My 17 months progress feeling worried.

Hi, I have been wearing braces since September 2014 and I found some old pictures of the first day I got my top braces on. I'm quite happy about the progress so far but I feel like there's lots of work still needed in there and I'm very anxious as to make sure we don't exceed the deadlines. I'm fina...

Just got my powerchain, ouch.

Hi fellow forum members, So yesterday I got my powerchain on my top teeth. My ortho never told me I was ready for it, he just went ahead and he installed it. Then I was like "Oh that feels different, what's up with that?" and he answered that I now have a powerchain to close the (huge) gap...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

If I am talking to you, face to face, and you have braces. I am checking them out, vs looking at you eye to eye. Heck I now find myself checking out everyones teeth as I am talking to them, and mentally coming up with a orthodontic plan for them if I think they need them. No freakin' way, I noticed...

Re: how much money did you start with?

I have a sentence of 2 years, I had to pay 1500$ up front. My insurance covers 500$ per year so 1000$ in the end. I have monthly installments of 180$. The total cost of my treatment is 5800$.

Re: Getting bottom braces next monday, very worried

Got my bottom braces this morning at 10AM. Had to go to work and pain started at around noon. I'm in much more pain than when I got braces put on my top teeth. Right now it is really hurting and I can feel the pressure. I'm on liquids and taking the day off tomorrow. Here is my mouth right now : htt...

Re: Worst foods to eat with braces

Coleslaw is for me the worst food to eat with braces so far, the cabbage just gets stuck everywhere! Cooked minced beef is very annoying too.

Re: Getting bottom braces next monday, very worried

Thank you for your kind responses, I hope I will be in pain only for two days like the top braces.

Is it true the brackets are more prone to breaking since they might make contact with your upper teeth? So far I never broke a bracket on my top braces.

Getting bottom braces next monday, very worried

Hi y'all I am going to get my bottom braces installed next Monday and I'm very worried. Everybody told me it was worse the bottom than the top, is it true? My top braces weren't so bad: I had to eat soft foods for about 2 days and then I was fine. My bottom teeth are pretty messed up so it will prob...

Re: Oldfart Orthodontic Diary

Sounds dorky, but to measure the distance of my molar going forward I would use a thin slice of cheese. That way i can get a accurate imprint to measure. Finally I started just asking the ortho to measure it for me. of NO WAY!! I just tried it and it works! Cheese is the way to go I think. I really...

Re: Fixed braces and feeling nervous - What to expect & Pain

Hi and welcome aboard ! You definitely won't regret that big decision, it will take time and patience but it is definitely a life changer (for the best). My top braces have been fitted September 1st 2014, took about 45min and it was painless. After maybe 6 hours I felt a bit of soreness which was qu...

Re: My progress so far... (overjet top and overcrowding bott

Oh well you know what? I had to ask him about 10 questions or so, and I was wrong he took the time to answer my questions. He replaced my ligatures, instead of the black that I had before I got gray-ish (go figure). Then he twisted some sort of thinner metal wire onto my bracket around the archwire,...

Re: My progress so far... (overjet top and overcrowding bott

Thank you for that nice reply. Well I'm shy because I always feel he's on a tight schedule and the work must be done as quickly as possible. If I ask him too many questions, I'm going to mess up his beautiful schedule and stuff. Ugh I need to step it up a notch and confront the ogre (just kidding he...

I'm glad to see I'm not the only 25 year old male that missed the opportunity at a younger age... You said it right, we are stubborn at that age :)

Is there any special tool the orthodontist can employ to force that not-willing-to-party tooth?
