Re: Newly braced and over 50?

Some days are certainly better than others. My mouth gets incredibly dry as well but I feel that much of that has to do with the amount of water I drink throughout the day. I never knew one's mouth could get that dry and I know understand what all those movie desert scenes are all about! I too miss ...

Re: Brackets on the second molars?

None on my back molars...yet. The ortho told me I'm going to have brackets attached sometime in the not too distant future which is something I'm not looking forward to at all. My molar area is where I experience most of my discomfort.

Braces have been on for 3 months now so I guess I'm due.

Visit Expectations

I've had my Damon's for 6 weeks now and I'm scheduled for my first visit in a couple of weeks. That said, what typically happens during your visit/s? I understand that they may put a heavier gauge wire in which I believe promotes more movement but I was also wondering if the Ortho will reposition an...

Big Day, Anna! Enjoy it as there are many on here who wish they were in your shoes. Please let us know how it feels to walk out of the ortho office with a silky smooth smile! :D

Re: NEWBIE HERE

Welcome! I took the plunge at 54 as a result of a spur of the moment decision and like you made the decision after I saw how really crooked my teeth looked in pictures. Not having thought it through much prior to jumping in (about 10 days from initial decision point to banding) I had some moments of...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

I had several bowls of chili while tailgating prior to a college football game this past weekend. When I checked my grill out prior to walking into the game I noticed a significant shade of orange and decided to leave it as orange (SU) is the school color! I later made a valiant effort to clean my t...

Re: 44 yrs old, got braces yesterday so far so good

You'll get used to them pretty quickly. I'm 54 and have mine for 3 weeks now but for some reason it seems like I've had them on longer (time seems to be dragging, its only been 3 weeks?!). Yes, eating is a chore and is quite a bit more work than it used to be. My mouth can get a bit sore at times an...

Re: 1 year down!

Thanks for the encouragement! Comments like these are what made me stay the course as I was severely doubting whether or not I should have gotten braces. I'm 54 yrs old and only three weeks in but you're right in that no one cares. Last night we took our daughter out for dinner and it wasn't until h...
Good luck!! I'm hopefully getting braced soon, I'm 21 and at uni and a bit apprehensive of what people will say. However I have seen two adults with braces in the last two days...
Apparently, there are lots of us adults with hardware these days! I'm 54 and recall qu...

Re: 100% Elastic Wear challenge and Public Shaming thread.

OMG, this conversation concerns me. I'm only two weeks into this and haven't had the pleasure of the elastic experience. I can't imagine the difficulty of getting these things in place, it's already impossible to floss. When and if this does happen I'll use this thread as inspiration and will gladly...

I'm happy to have this forum available. Without it I may not have actually pulled the trigger on getting my braces. Everyone is very supportive.

Re: Can't bite down after braces

They put molar buildups on my lowers as well otherwise my upper front teeth would impact my front lower brackets. It was incredibly awkward at first as the build up have a pretty small surface area however I've somewhat gotten used to it after a couple of weeks. It's sure better than having your tee...

Re: Newbie saying hi

Mine have been on for two weeks now and it seems like an eternity since that first day. So you're already noticing movement in your teeth? That's amazing. I look every day hoping thee will be something noticeable but so far nothing. My teeth have that minor sensitive feeling like you got hit in the ...

Re: 2 months progress - WOW!

That's awesome! I'm not even a week in and I keep thinking I see changes...probably not though. Huge change in the way I live. Hope I have the results you did. My ortho told me the top teeth will move faster than the lowers.

OMG, they're on! I almost bailed last night but I must admit that I got strength to stay the course from lots of the positive feedback on this forum. Now if I can figure out how to add one of those timelines...Thanks
