Re: How is everyone doing with their braces? Share your updates!

Hey Kitri, Great idea :) I'm about 7 months in now and to be honest rarely think about my braces now part from putting on the elastics which fly off in every direction :) Speech wise I was back to normal by 6-8 weeks. As i'm Irish and live in Australia, no one ever understood me before braces and the...

Re: Harmony Lingual top and Ceramic bottom braces

Well done on taking the first step! It's some I should have done years ago but glad I am doing it. You are actually ahead of me as I only got my linguals on January so just 7 weeks in so bit to go yet :) Agree it pays to get an ortho you are comfortable with. I had 4 separate consults before I picke...

Re: Incognito Specialist Sydney Australia

Hey Sbrierly, I ended up going with Sydney Smile Specialists. They have offices in Chatswood and Randwick. I am going to the Chatswood which is run by Dr Nour Eldin Tarraf. The reason I went with him is because he specialises in lingual and has a lot of experience with them. Also out of all my consu...

Re: just had my upper and lower lingual braces fitted

Hey Katie, I have posted an update on my progress on my thread so as not to hijack Robbies :) I recommend you trying a few brands of wax as all are not equal. I now apply mine when I am lying in bed so no longer try and dry the tooth before applying. Try silicone ear plugs - you just break them up a...

Incognito Journey (plus Piezocision)

Quick update on my progress It's 2 weeks since my survey and have to say things have healed up nicely. The swelling peaked at 5 days at which I looked like I had got some serious plastic survey that went wrong (as I could make any facial expression at all apart from moving my forehead). But back to ...

Re: Lingual braces, Wilckodontics & the Forsus at 32

Dantocanada, Just read your blog. Wow! It was definitely a hard road for you but worth it in the end no doubt. To be honest I was only aware of Wilkco through my own research and it was only when I consulted this particular periodontist that he made me a ware of more recent developments in this area...

Re: Day 2 post placement bottom lingual braces

Hey jflo618, Yes - it does get better :) Some people take longer to adapt but most do in 2-4 weeks. I have had my lingual (upper and lower) in a week and in that time I have improved a lot although they still do give me pain towards the end of day. I only use wax at night to give my tongue a rest an...

Re: Lingual braces, Wilckodontics & the Forsus at 32

Hey Datocanda, Did you have Wilcko done for all your teeth or just a few? I had Piezocision done yesterday for all teeth (well the 10 upper and lower that are being activated) which is similar (but less invasive than Wilcko) - I posted a link on my other post. I am quite swollen around the front of ...

Re: Day 1 - Incognito Journey (plus Piezocision)

Well.......had my Piezocision surgery today and have to say I have never been so glad to get that done. It took 3.5 hours and I won't lie, I found it tough despite being numbed up to the eyeballs. Funny story, the perio had forgotten to give me some ibuprofen beforehand so after he had completed the...

Re: just had my upper and lower lingual braces fitted

You seem to be adjusting quite well. I'm on day 5 and while I can eat most things once I don't need to use my front teeth, I feel my speech is still slurred. No one has said anything at work but I can hear it on certain words and especially towards the end of the day. What annoys me is the brackets ...

Re: Lingual braces, Wilckodontics & the Forsus at 32

Wow! You have definitely been through it all! Seems like you are over the worst of it. The Wilckodontics is something I was considering however the periodontist I went to practices Piezocision which is meant to do the same thing as Wilcko but does it through small cuts in the bone and then tunnellin...

Re: just had my upper and lower lingual braces fitted

Good news Robbie. I feel I've made progress over the last couple of days as I can eat most things as long as I use my back teeth to chew and I cut if up rather than biting into something. My front teeth are way too sensitive to bite into anything. My speech is still about 95% although reckon as I ge...

Re: Day 1 - Incognito Journey (plus Piezocision)

Thanks Robbie - agree about the wax - lifesaver! So 24 hours in.... Eating was a challenge yesterday so soup and bread was the order of the day. It was tough to fill up on this so I can see what people mean when they say the lose weight with these things. I will try pasta this evening and see how it...

Day 1 - Incognito Journey (plus Piezocision)

Re: just had my upper and lower lingual braces fitted

Hey mate, You are about a week ahead of me. I'm getting my Incognito tomorrow morning at 9am. Have Thursday and Friday off so a few days to hopefully adjust before work. So hopefully things will go as well as you. For my last supper I had a steak dinner as I figure it will be as while before I can e...
