Today I got an upper bonded retainer and I love it :D It doesn't bother me AT ALL, speech is normal, no food getting stuck (had a burger). Now my upper teeth feel much better - very "stable" and strong. They also took impressions. On wed I will get the lower one and Essix. I have no idea w...

I can totally relate :) I used to do the closed lip smile for years and didn't even know which muscles to activate to create a smile. The most embarrassing event was taking the photos for the ortho records. I had to smile and didn't know how to do that...! I also ujsed to hide my mouth when laughing...

The problem is not the pain, it's the gap being formed. I'm afraid it might get bigger....

Positioner doesn't fit anymore after bonding /gap appeared!

Hi I got some sort of a problem. I had some bonding work done and now the positioner doesn't fit anymore. I put it at night and it hurt me. Now I got a small gap between the upper centrals! What should I do now? Stop using it or use it anyway? I am getting retainers on Monday but the bite isn't perf...

I am back :) Went for bleaching and bonding today. This is the final result: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a186/butterfly2000/smile20070222.jpg My previously fully hidden tooth is not 100% in line - but I think I am OK. I won't get perfection I guess because I had such a messed up mouth. Don't k...

OMG I am sorry this was intended to be a joke. I will remove that sentence about the British!

I agree: Happiness is not instant.

That sounds awful. I wouldn't lie to people like this. Isn't this rude? With the braces on everyone could at least SEE why I cannot eat but the Essix will be a bit more difficult to explain... The car thing is a really good idea!

My ortho told me to get the chips fixed BEFORE the impressions because the retainer must fit perfectly. Are you getting an essix?

Thanks for your answer. So the wire behind the teeth doesn`t seem to be too bothersome! This sounds good. We will have to live with it I guess. Are you wearing the positioner on top of the permanent retainer? Is this possible even? I got a positioner too. If the teeth shift in the future you can alw...

That sounds scary! I got a positioner in the meanwhile so nothing is shifting. The molds for the positioner were taken with the braces on.

Life with retainers

Hello forum, I was debanded 1.5 months ago and have been wearing a positioner for 4 hours a day plus at night since. This means that when going our or just being with ppl I enjoy full pre-braces freedom. But this will come to an end. I will get an Essix above and a bonded retainer below. How will th...
