Re: Things I have noticed after being braced. What do you th
I have almost had my braces a year, with another year to go. I am 23 and I have been so self conscious of my teeth. I have never smiled showing my teeth because I was so ashamed. Now, my teeth are beginning to look great. I actually smile while showing my teeth and people have complimented on how ni...

Re: Question about filing teeth
Worn down teeth can also make you look older. I'd say probably go for the bonding (done by dentist), even though obviously that can be a problem with teeth getting re-chipped etc. The chipping is a sign that you have lost enamel already, the best solution is not necessarily going to be to remove ev...

Question about filing teeth
Hi guys, quick question. Several months back, I asked my ortho about filing out the chips in my teeth, especially the top two. She said that yes, they will file out the chips but it seems to me that my teeth seem a little too chipped just for simple filing, especially one in particular. I'm worried ...

Re: Hit in the mouth :(
I can completely understand the excited dog thing. A couple weeks ago I bent over to pet my dog when she was outside; and she lifted her head into my nose. An audible crack, some pain, some tears and blood. I'm pretty sure she broke my nose. Ouch!!!!! Done that before too except someone kicked me i...

Re: Hit in the mouth :(
I accidentally hit myself. I was using my waterpik and bent down toward the sink so that the bottom of the waterpik hit the sink. The waterpik then hit the wire between my lower front teeth REALLY HARD. After that, my teeth hurt more than the others, but it did pass after a week or so. I wasn't tha...

Re: Hit in the mouth :(
Yeah, my front two teeth have been the most sensitive with my braces because they are the ones that needed the most moving. It wasn't even a hard hit! I will get my ortho to take a look at it wednesday without the wire in. I already have a dentist appointment scheduled to change dentists anyway on t...

Hit in the mouth :(
Thursday night, my dog was playing and he hit me square in the bracket of my front tooth. It didn't hurt at the time. I checked to make sure nothing was broken or wiggly. Friday, I noticed my tooth is really sore up in the gum/bone area and my tooth makes a bit of a creaking/cracking noise that seem...

Re: How long did you have your build ups or bite turbos?
I've had build ups for the full 8 months I've had my braces on. I had to have two replaced because they fell off, two additional added, one taken off, and then one shaved down a lot because it was causing me to put too much pressure on a tooth.

Re: Freaking out! Abcessed molar.
I went to my ortho tonight and had a long chat with her. She examined my tooth/gum in that area and said that I have no reason to think I have an abcess nor does she think I need a root canal. She says i'm putting too much pressure on the tooth and shaved down my buildup considerably. She barely eve...

Re: Freaking out! Abcessed molar.
Whatever you do, don't mess around getting it treated however (either extracted or root canaled) An abcess can get worse quickly. If the swelling spreads to your jaw, (vs. just the little pimple, which yes, is probably an abcess) see your dentist that day if possible, as that can turn into a medica...

Re: Freaking out! Abcessed molar.
I should probably state that there was no infection in the tooth when I got my cleaning done December 5. I had an injury to the tooth from biting into something hard on accident and it has a deep filling, which they said now needs a root canal because the nerve is enflamed, however they told me to t...

Freaking out! Abcessed molar.
So basically, pretty sure I have an abcessed molar. Dentist already threatened root canal but told me to wait until my next orthodontist appointment so I could discuss with them if this is a tooth they would possibly pull since they are discussing extractions for my braces. At this point, I am just ...

Possible root canal while wearing braces
So....I had an incident regarding a bottom molar. This tooth has a very large filling and I've always had some issues with it. I went to my dentist and they said if it doesn't get any better I may need a root canal. How does that work while wearing braces? I am terrified of the root canal but will t...

Toothbrush bristle stuck in my bracket!
Today after lunch, I was brushing my teeth when a bristle got caught on my bracket. This has happened before but usually I gently pull and it comes right out. Well today, it was stubborn so I pulled on it with a little more force, and the whole bristle came out and is now stuck IN a little hole in m...
