Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

Jaime, Thanks!! My ortho didn't even give me an option to get the Essix and I didn't know I was getting the Clearbow until I saw it lol. Oh and I got a permanent retainer behind my upper central incisors since I was concerned about movement. It's not been too bad to floss around actually. The wire i...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

:D Feels nice to finally have them off! Here's a picture of my bite. My midline is more off in the picture than it actually is. I must have been biting down weird. I'll post comparison pics soon! I'm not very good at smiling with my new bite. It's going to take some practice lol. I got Hawley retain...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

Jaime, I didn't end up getting them off that day, but I am scheduled to get them removed on January 5th (would have been sooner but they are closed for Christmas vacation)!! How long will you have to wear your retainer full-time? I got a letter in the mail saying I'd be wearing mine full-time for a ...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

HAPPY ONE YEAR POST-OP EVERYONE!!!! :jump: :-D I'm so sorry I've been MIA during a lot of this. I won't lie...after my delayed union issues I got pretty down in the dumps and needed to quit obsessing about it all and just take a breather. I was stressing myself out and worrying constantly. ...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing great. I'm going to catch up on your posts later tonight. I just thought I'd swing by & give an update. I still have a little bit of upper lip (and above the lip) & upper front gums numbness from time to time---it comes and it goes. My upper jaw area also feels ...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

I've been dreadful at keeping up so here's a few questions: 1. Is anyone still experiencing some numbness? My top gums are sort of 70% feeling and have been for the past 3 months. I suspect they'll never get better. 2. I feel as though my upper jaw is still "loose" from my skull. It's been 4 months...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Hey everyone...just checking in real fast. I'll have to catch up on recent posts! My upper jaw stills shifts upwards when I bite down. I'm now 11-1/2 weeks post op. The bone isn't as soft as it was...I don't think...but it still isn't fully solid I'm beginning to get really, really frustrated with a...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

I hope everyone is doing well. I don't think I posted after my appointment with my surgeon about the loose upper jaw. I've had a lot going on the past couple of weeks. Anyway, my x-ray looked fine. He said the new bone growth is soft/flexible. He's only had it happen to one other patient. He actuall...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

This morning when I was removing my elastics I noticed that my upper jaw moves up when I bite down. It seems like I'm having a delayed union (hopefully not a nonunion :( ) I see my surgeon this afternoon....hopefully he calms my fears a bit. It's really unsettling seeing my upper jaw move up & down ...

Liz192 - Wow, sounds like you are doing pretty good though. I hope the rest of the week goes by quick for you! I only took two weeks off from work as well. Thinking back I wish I had taken 3 weeks off instead though. Nozzelnut - Congrats on a being able to start chewing again! Jaime - That's neat th...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Snapdresser – Ohh okay. I’ve never had anything from Chick-fil-A before. There is one about an hour away from where I live though. Not being recognized actually bums me out a bit for some reason lol. I’m not sure how long I’ll wear elastics. I’ll be sure to ask today. Yeah, I’m hoping I can open my ...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Jaime - I think the chubby cheeks add to the youthfulness. Hahaha. Though they don't look as chubby in that picture. Liz - I'm sorry you had a tough week. Get some rest! Hopefully things are starting to look up for you now though. I'd also give anything for a burger. Ugggggh. I just checked my insur...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

I saw my surgeon again yesterday......I'm getting unwired on the 28th!! :-* Just five more days! I hope I'm able to eat soft no chew foods right away. Anyway, after my appointment with my surgeon I stopped by my orthodontist to scheduale an appointment for elastics for the same day....and both recep...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Sorry for being MIA again! Work has been really busy the past two weeks. Short version: I work at a newspaper that sponsors a 3 day farm show. I’m on my 9th day of work in a row…only 3 more to go until a day off. Oh, and the farm show is outdoors so I spent 3 days in 95-100 degrees Fahrenheit temera...
