Re: A Year In - Braces at 22
Well... I guess this is goodbye. I won't lie, I am actually a bit sad to no longer be visiting my ortho office once a month (it's been 3.5 years of visits!) and to be done with my journey. However, I AM SO HAPPY WITH MY RESULTS! This was by far the best money I've ever spent. Getting my braces off w...

Re: Does flossing with permanent retainers get better?
Hmmm I'm wondering why it takes you so long to floss. I have upper and lower permanent retainers and at most, it adds like 2-3 minutes onto my flossing routine. Are your wires super close to your gum line, perhaps? Or maybe there is too much glue, which your ortho could grind off? I'm assuming you ...

Re: permanent retainer while braces are still on?
Yes I had my bottom permanent retainer placed one month and then two months later they placed my top. I'm just now getting my braces off in 3 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it, it seems to be pretty normal!

Does flossing with permanent retainers get better?
I've had my top and bottom permanent retainers for about 2 months or so and just got my debanding date set for January 31st. My question is if flossing around the permanent retainers really gets easier? I've been avoiding it, but my orthodontist told me I really need to do it and that it will get ea...

Re: A Year In - Braces at 22
I had my bonding done yesterday at the dentist's office. I mentioned that I wanted to whiten my teeth once the braces come off, so the bonding was done as a lighter color to hopefully match my teeth after.
I have an orthodontist appointment today and I'm really hoping I will get a debracing date!

Re: How often do you smile since you got braces?
I smile 3000x's more with braces than before. I didn't get braces until 22, so I grew up covering my mouth with my hand EVERY TIME I laughed. I was incredibly self-conscious and uncomfortable in my skin. I honestly LOVE smiling now! I am proud to have my braces because I worked so hard to get them a...

Re: How long is your estimated treatment time?
My estimated time was 20 months. I'm sitting at nearly 40 months right now, but my permanent retainers are on and I've been told my braces will come off as a "New Years" present. I have an appointment Friday and will probably make me debracing appointment then. I'm not really sure why it t...

Re: A Year In - Braces at 22
I had another appointment today and got my top permanent retainer placed! We had to push it back a month as my teeth got misaligned last appointment. Re: Linguals, acceledent, and impacted canines (oh my!)
Hello! Fellow impacted canine checking in. I started treatment 3.5 years ago. My upper right adult canine was impacted. Unfortunately, it was not in a position conducive to coming down. Instead, I had the adult canine extracted by an oral surgeon, who said it was actually up near my naval cavity. We...

Re: Bite feels unnatural?
I just wanted to jump in and say don't feel crazy. I worry about the same thing all the time. They always tell me to bite down and they look. Later I worry if I closed my mouth the "right" way because it has felt different every day since they put the braces on so I don't know what the co...

Re: Bite feels unnatural?
Thank you for sharing your story! I called my ortho and they were able to fit me in next week. I think they said they are still going to go ahead and place me other permanent retainer on my top teeth also. So even if I am crazy and my bite is fine - at least my treatment will be moved up. My bite is...

Re: Bite feels unnatural?
You need to talk to your ortho asap. If it bothers you now it's def gonna continue to bother you after your braces are removed. I had a similar problem after my first round of treatment. I had to pull my bottom jaw back to fit behind my top from teeth. After a few months in my second treatment my j...
