Re: What does everybody put in smoothies?

20 months into lingual braces and my smoothies are still my lifesaver! I generally prepare one for breakfast consisting of: plain yoghurt bananas mixture of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries carrot spinach and/or kale oats chia seed linseed mixed nuts (nothing to chew once through the blender) ...

Re: Speech

Everyone will have had/is having a different experience. Mine is that speech is terrible with linguals. I'm now in my 19th month, and bar a few weeks early on when I thought things were getting back to normal with my speech, it really has been awful. If I knew at the beginning what I know now (about...

Re: Q: Are elastics on linguals brackets annoying enough that you'd prefer exterior buttons?

There seem to be a very large number of elastics configurations, so it's hard to give a generic answer to this one. In my particular case, I have buttons on the external lower back molars and the elastic goes from these to a hook on the lingual bracket of the incisor. It can get pretty tight for spa...

Re: Day 3 of lingual braces (Win) - upper and lower

Luk, I didn't have the option of a different type of brace on the lower jaw, nor did I research it. When my bracket came off after the first 2 weeks (this is a long time ago now!) I just saved it and gave it back to the ortho when I went in for the next appointment. I always, right from the beginnin...

Re: Facial changes with braces (not that happy)

Hi Orchid, I feel for you. I have also noticed facial changes; in my case they are definitely due to weight loss which has been quite severe in the 7 months since I had my linguals fitted. I was already quite thin (and had a long thin face) so the net result has been fairly dire and quite a lot of m...

Good to hear it's going so well for you Robbievega, you must be one of the lucky ones! I wish you much success with your journey and look forward to your updates.

And good luck to Askme too for your fitting tomorrow!

Re: Day 3 of lingual braces (Win) - upper and lower

Hi Orchid, I would be very happy to upload progress pictures.... If I had them! I'm hoping to get hold of the professional ones that my ortho takes every time I am there, as they really do show progress, and it's easy to compare because they are taken from the same angle every time. Hopefully they w...

Re: Day 3 of lingual braces (Win) - upper and lower

IncognitoChris, to answer your earlier questions, yes they are custom made brackets. I have the "Win" appliance which apparently is developed by the same people as Incognito but is meant to be the next generation of the Incognito appliance with smaller brackets (allegedly) and better tongu...

Re: Incognito Fitting Experiences..

Pretty much as cs2thecox has outlined except that mine took over 3 hours to fit (lots of things went wrong, eg some brackets fell off and had to be re-glued individually). The sandblasting is not too bad, not exactly what you would choose voluntarily as a spa or pampering treatment for your mouth bu...

Re: Day 3 of lingual braces (Win) - upper and lower

I'm now almost exactly 5 months in, so a quick update from me: - things have started to happen and there is real progress to report (phew) - I'm still on thin flexible wires, but should move to the stronger (square?) one in January - I have a power chain on the top, I've had this for 3 weeks and for...

Re: Here's my Journey

Hey, good luck! I look forward to your updates and progress. The tongue gets better in a few weeks, if that's the only problem you have at the moment then you'll probably have a great time!

All the best....

Re: Top linguals, speech is TERRIBLE

Some random thoughts from me: - some people do see their speech improve significantly or completely, after a few days or max a few weeks, and find that practice does help. I hope you turn out to be one of those! - others (i.e. me!) suffer forever.... for me this is the REAL problem with linguals, an...

Re: New lingual braces and molars not meeting

Hi Tebin, Firstly, congratulations on taking the plunge, and good luck with your journey. Whilst it's often a rough and uncomfortable ride (for me at least) the joy of seeing small improvements in your teeth along the way, and the prospect of being able to smile properly at the end of the treatment,...
