Re: Four Weeks Post-removal and Molars Don't Touch
Hi uncleezno, have you considered getting an Essix with a bite plane to wear at night? That's what I have. I have a similar issue to yours: I originally had a very strong overbite, and the braces corrected it by raising my molars, but in the last few weeks of my treatment they started to not touch a...

Re: Bite feels off when I take my retainers out in the morning
I got my braces off 7 weeks ago and am noticing the same thing! For the first 6 weeks I wore my upper and lower Essix retainers 24/7, except while eating. After 6 weeks, I switched to just nighttime wear. When I take them out in the morning, my bite feels off on the right side. The #1 upper and lowe...

What is a Nance button? Can you describe it? (Maybe I know it by a different name...)

Re: Crunching and cracking sensation?
Every time I get a new wire, I get it for a few days. Am going through it now! And I find it kind of "addicting", I find myself opening and closing my mouth just to make my teeth crackle, lol!

Re: Reverse curve wire! OH My!
OK, here's my 6-week progress report: This reverse curve wire worked so well, my Ortho removed it today after just 6 weeks of wear! AND HE ALSO REMOVED THE BITE TURBOS FROM MY FRONT TEETH!! :jump: :-* :jump: (can you tell I'm happy?) As I mentioned previously, during the first few days of wearing th...

Re: Bite Block
AAGH!! BITE BLOCKERS!! I've had them on the backs of my two upper front teeth since day one (12 months ago) and I expect I will probably have them for another 3-6 months. You can't bite into anything with your front teeth - you have to either use a knife and fork to cut your food into small pieces o...

Re: The benefits of obsessive elastic wear
Wow, good for you! And that's encouraging to me, because I am trying to be obsessive about wearing my elastics too. I keep telling myself that every minute I spend in elastics now means much less time in braces down the road. I've been braced for 12 months and have worn elastics from day 1...and am ...

Re: Reverse curve wire! OH My!
Oh, I hate to hear that this wire hurts. I think I'll be getting one eventually as my upper incisors need to be intruded big-time. Hope everyone's teeth feel better soon. Yes, it does hurt more than any other wire I've had (I'm 12 months into treatment now, with another 8-12 months expected). It hu...

Re: Reverse curve wire! OH My!
kids041, thanks so very much for the explanation and picture! I just got that exact wire put in my lower arch this morning (well, it looked like that exact wire!). It makes sense, because I too have a deep bite. I've worn box elastics (in the shape of a box around upper and lower 5,6,7''s) for the p...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
I don't floss with string floss. I only waterpik.
Dentist and Ortho both think I'm doing an amazing job with my flossing and say to "keep it up!".

Re: Damon Clear Q: Clear on top and bottom or not?
I have Damons.... Clear on the top and metal on the bottom AND I do have bite turbos on the backs of my two upper front teeth, because otherwise I would hit the lower brackets and either break them off or damage my upper teeth. My ortho said he doesn't do clears on the bottom because they don't work...

Re: What day were you finally able to eat real food??
Yes, it also depends on *why* you can't eat normally. I've been braced for 9 months now, and I still can't eat normally because I can't chew. But my issue isn't pain (I have none) - it's the fact that my upper and lower molars still don't meet each other, so I can't grind or chew food. I have to eit...

Re: I'm starting to notice...
... The other day I ran into a total stranger and he complimented me on my straight teeth and asked when my braces were coming off <snip> It really made my day! I know exactly what you mean! Last week I went for a haircut and my hairdresser, who I hadn't seen in about 10 weeks, said "Wow! Your...

Re: Jaw pain
Hi lulu75, I had a similar experience. I got my braces 7 months ago at age 53. For the first 2-3 days my only pain was the discomfort/rubbing on the inside of my mouth...then BAM! The pain started. For the next week or 2 (or maybe 3) I had pain in my lower jaw, some days on the left, some days on th...
