Re: Any way to Whiten stained elastics?
I've had my ceramics for over a year. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a way to take out the stains... As others have mentioned, I find that getting the "smoke" colored ties helps somewhat. They still stain a little, but it's much less noticeable than the clear or even "pearl" c...

Cross-Bite Elastic Problem!
Hello! I'm currently toward the end of my treatment (had braces for 13 months now), and I'm wearing a "medium" cross-bite elastic on the right side (elastic attaches to inside of molar band to outside hook of bottom molar band). My biggest problem is sleeping with it... It pops off while I...

Re: Molar Bands hurt!!
Thanks for your replies, everyone... perhaps they are bumps for elastics, yeah. I do have a crossbite, so maybe that's why, but I'm not 100% sure. I tried putting wax on them last night, but the wax just falls off... I don't like the sensation of the "bumps" against the inside of my tongue...

Molar Bands hurt!!
This is my first week in braces (ceramic, top and bottom). I had spacers put in on bottom one week ago, and they were removed today and replaced with metal molar bands. My main problem is that the molar bands have two metal "bumps" on the INSIDES of them, which is irritating my tongue.. I ...

Re: Schwartz appliance
I know this post is old, but I currently have a Schwartz appliance (I'm 29 years old) and it's working quite well! Yes, it's a huge pain to wear.. it hurts, it makes you talk funny, and it is uncomfortable for the first couple of weeks, especially when you take it in/out to eat. BUT... it has succes...

Re: Adult Non-Surgical Palatal Expansion
I'm 29 and currently having successful non-surgical upper expansion using a Schwartz appliance. I've had it for 3 weeks now, and a space has developed between my two front teeth, as well as several other front teeth. I was originally instructed to turn it everyday, but I was getting jaw pain and too...

Re: Expander hurting roof of mouth
Hi Guys, Thanks for responding. I've had the expander for 3 weeks now, and it actually IS working.. there's a gap forming between my 2 front teeth, and my bite is coming together (my ortho also said it's working). However, because it's a removable expander, it's more irritating than a fixed one, bec...

Expander hurting roof of mouth
Hi guys, Just wondering, does anyone have remedies to help sores/redness/irritation on the roof of your mouth from palatal expanders? I have the Schwartz type (removable, plastic part on roof of mouth with metal wires that hook onto teeth) and the right side of the roof of my mouth is red and KILLIN...

Re: Schwartz Expander Problems
I've been turning it every other day for the past few days, and that has been a lot better.. I still have the pressure and shooting jaw pain, but it only lasts a short time and then I'm fine. When I was turning it every day, the pain was really bad and the stupid thing was SO tight that it wouldn't ...

Re: Schwartz Expander Problems
I wanted to add that with a removable expander, I was told to turn it OUTSIDE of my mouth... maybe I should ask if it can be turned while I'm wearing it? That may solve some problems. The one I have is different than the metal fixed ones, though, which are meant to be turned in the mouth.

Re: Schwartz Expander Problems
Thanks for your reply!! To answer your question, yes, I turn the screw and then put the expander in my mouth.. maybe that's the problem: after it's been tightened, trying to get it back in my mouth is painful and difficult. I'm starting to wish that I was given a fixed expander instead. This one is ...

Schwartz Expander Problems
Hello Everyone! I'm an adult (29 years old) and I just got a Schwartz (removable) palatal expander last week. My orthodontist told me to turn it once per day, which I have been doing without too many problems.. However, last night, when I turned the screw and tried to put it in my mouth, it was SO t...
