Re: Molar builups...how long?
Hi Sally, I got molar buildups too with my braces about 2 months ago. It is indeed the most annoying part of the whole story but it's getting better from day to day. My dentist told me that he will reduce the buildups step by step depending of the progress of my teeth's movement. Greetings, Arcimboldo

Re: Arcim's Journey
Second day: It's still a strange but in a way funny feeling with my new braces. There is something very alien in my mouth which is actually a very private space. Braces are some sort of space invaders
No greater pain so far but certainly some pressure on my teeth.

Arcim's Journey
Today was Brace Date, everything's fine so far. I got metal both upper and lower jaw. The only really uncomfortable thing is that I can only use the premolars because due the my crossbite they needed to apply bite blocks. I'm excited how I will feel tomorrow

Interproximal reduction
Next week is brace day and I will need to get molar bands because of fillings and to get more power on the molars. This week I got the separators but only on one side because of extreme tooth crowding. Hence the necessary space for the bands on the other side will be created by interproximal reducti...

Re: Getting braces soon
On June 12th (in two days...) I'm starting with spacers. Braces will follow one week later. Now I'm getting pretty nervous. It's a bit like Christmas or better Christmas as it has been as a child. It's very funny to be nervous as a child in the age of 46

Re: How much did you guys pay for your braces?
I will have to pay 7000 €, metall both and 24 months. Insurance will cover 50%, so it's still a lot of money. I hope it's worth it.
Not sure what age your students are, but I was working in a pediatrician's office for several months with my braces. I have metal, and they definitely opened up a conversation with at least one reticent teen.
My students are mostly out of braces age. So maybe I'll...
As noted, ceramic are noticeable anyway - except from a distance. The brackets in your mouth would be bigger than metal ones, so you may want to consider that.
Does that mean that metal braces cause less discomfort because they are smaller?

Visible is better?
I'm getting my braces in two weeks. Up to now I'm not shure whether to take clear/ceramic or metal brackets. Because I'm a teacher my crucial argument for metal is to show the students from the very first second that I'm braced. I don't want to make them think: Has he or has he not braces? Does he h...
