Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Hey guys, I think it's been a little while since an update. I had another pano and much to the absolute surprise of my ortho...the tooth has FINALLY started moving! :-** But he is still cautiously optimistic. He referred me for a CT scan to see if there is any damage being done to the roots of my s...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Hey 28and braced and anyone else who would like to comment, I would like to know more about how your braces and pulling your canine in had an impact on your health? Like mental health? And also how bad was it on your confidence and self esteem? I am having braces put on in june and have had terribl...

Bonded Retainer vs. Removable
Hi there, everyone! My braces are coming off on March 26 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and my orthodontist mentioned a permanent bonded retainer at my last appointment. I didn't realize that was an option--I assumed I would be getting one of the trays, and my ortho assumed that I would be getting the bo...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
I haven't been around this board for a while but wanted to post an update, since I've reached the end of the road! On March 26, my braces are coming off, a little more than 13 months after they were installed (well within the 12-18 months I was initially quoted). I am so relieved that I could (and p...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Hello everyone, I just found this board today and I couldn't be more happy! I had a palatally impacted canine that has erupted over the past few years. It is on my right side and I still have my baby tooth intact. I just turned 21 and am becoming more self conscious than ever since it is some what ...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
I had another appointment yesterday, and we have now begun to pull on my canine--yay! I'm hoping that I'm getting near the end of the hard part of this journey, and that my tooth moves as needed. I'm a little uncomfortable, but at least it is localized and not all over! I got the bad news that my o...

Re: Braces at 28, all because of one tooth
I've had two appointments since my last update, and things have changed a lot! -My ortho is leaving in June, so I only have one more visit with him. Another ortho will step in and take over my treatment. Even though we've done the hard parts (braces on, wires bonded, TAD inserted, baby tooth out, ca...

Re: Braces at 28, all because of one tooth
Stopping by to add updated photos! I detailed what we're up to in the Impacted Canine thread, but here's a run-down: -Metal bands around the brackets are gone. I don't know why, exactly. Wires now run in a diamond-like pattern from bracket to bracket and back again (over, under, over, under, etc.). ...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Figured I'd better post a quick update, since there have been some pretty massive changes in my bite lately. My last ortho appointment was late in March. The big metal bands around the outside of my brackets were removed, and now I have additional wires running from bracket to bracket and back again...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Chelsea, I read your story and I'm so sorry that you've been through the wringer with your braces--how awful! BUT: your canine coming down on its own saves you the expense and hassle of surgery, which is lucky. (Trying to find the bright side!) That said, I really don't know that there is a way to g...

Re: 23, surgery and two years in braces: Mango's story
Welcome! I'm sorry you're in pain--hopefully your recovery progresses very quickly! I am actually curious about the canine removal myself. I've got one impacted canine that is being brought in (since it started coming in by itself!), but had briefly considered seeing about pulling it instead. I opte...

Re: Braces at 28, all because of one tooth
The only painful parts were the shots ( :-= ) and the screw once the shots wore off. The braces made my teeth sore, but mostly they've been okay. But I can see how it sounds a bit gory, haha! I had to look up a thread about black triangles to figure out what they were! I've had some movement in the ...
