Re: Negative comment about my results :(

The majority of people in your everyday life probably do not go around judging peoples face like they would on jawsurgeryforum...... Those people are a different breed with their own hang ups. On top of that some of them think they know more than the actual surgeons. They'll use all the medical ling...

Re: Anyone who has had genioplasty advice please!

Hi I'm about 3 months too and my right side looks a bit lower in photographs but nothing to bother too much. I'll let you know if mine goes away at the 6month work but I have a feeling it probably won't. I have genioplasty 3 months ago and one side (left) seems to be lower than the other. On this si...

Re: Anyone get cracking after jaw surgery?

Hi I'm over 2 months post op and no cracking. But from what I understand the cracking noise can take up to 6-months to a year for it to go away. You should bring it up with your next visit to the surgeon nonetheless.

Re: Anyone been told they could get upper OR lower jaw surge

Alicia there's nothing to disagree with me about here. I am only pointing out that if you are concerned with aesthetics the surgeon should give you all the options. My point was echoed in your case because the option of doing both jaws for you would perhaps achieve a fuller face (aesthetics) but you...

Re: Anyone been told they could get upper OR lower jaw surge

Yes I look different. Some people say I look a lot different some don't notice a big difference. Personally I liked my old side profile better but overall I think my face does have better symmetry and balance. Ive accepted my results thus far and willing to move forward. I wish you luck keep me upda...

Re: Anyone been told they could get upper OR lower jaw surge

I think it really depends on the surgeon. I'm lucky to have a good surgeon who listens and understands what you end goal is for this surgery. My movements were small between 1-2mm split between both jaws. Perhaps if he did one jaw it would be 4mm? I think if you emphasize aesthetics double/jaw with ...

Re: Anyone been told they could get upper OR lower jaw surge

Hotset, did the surgeon give you the option of doing both jaws? It's usually the better option if you are concerned with aesthetics. I had very small movements but my surgeon still recommended moving both jaws and genioplasty for aesthetics. It's a face you're going to have to live with, why not get...

Re: Where can I get 'surgery supplies' from in the UK??

My wife stocked on a lot of things for my surgery but to be honest the only things I used are:

-syringe for feeding during the first week
-baby tooth brush
-blender

I never really iced or used heat pads my swelling went down after a week. But I guess every case is different??

Re: ??????numb face and shaving ??????

Hello,
shaving will feel weird for the first few weeks but you'll get used to it. Trust me shaving will be the last of your worries during the re-coup process.

Re: Nose after double jaw surgery

I'm 5 week post up. -my face settled nicely so far -I have residual swelling in the lip/mouth area but nothing noticeable -I noticed in the first two weeks my nostrils were different sizes mainly because they shove that big tubed through your nose and all the way to your throat but that should settl...

Re: Lips not touching after surgery?

Hello I'm 5 weeks post up and my lips are not touching as well. I see tiny improvements everyday but I pray to god they touch at rest in the long run. I have a feeling they might not because when the surgeon did my genioplasty he said he tilted the chin down as well. I'm guessing this will pull the ...

Re: March 2014 buddies unite!

Murphjohn,

You will go crazy then ;). I'm 4 weeks in, I have another 4 weeks of all liquid diet, and then on to soft foods. My surgeon won't let me lift weights until the 8 week mark..... The toughest part for me right now is the lack of food and being active.....

Re: Going to have surgery for underbite, braces question.

Rows you should ask your orthodontist. That being said pre-ortho work usually enhances the underbite in preparation for jaw surgery. In my case my underbite was enhanced and the I had jaw surgery.
