My experiences have been exactly what djspeece described. I'm generally in and out within 10-15 minutes.

Re: chichi is braced!
Chichi, for some reason when reading your story last night I thought today was your 6th adjustment! I was gonna pester you for pictures today. Now I see that it's in 10 days according to your ticker. Can't wait to see your continued progress! You're not crazy! I had to reschedule my appointment, bu...

Re: Iv sedation and extractions?
I have never had IV sedation... I had my wisdom teeth out with local anesthetic and laughing gas. That was my personal choice, not because I wanted to be awake, but because I didn't want to have to spend the time and money on a hospital stay. With the local anesthetic, I was in and out of the surgeo...

Re: Working in Healthcare with Braces
I'm not in the health care field, but I do know an RN who has braces and is managing pretty well (she works in a hospital, but I don't know what department she's currently in). She's almost finished with the braces now... lucky

Re: Full Braces vs. 6 month braces ?
The 6 month braces will make his teeth look straighter, but they don't usually take bite into account. If he's looking for a quick aesthetic fix, that's fine, but if he's looking for a better functioning jaw/bite, he should probably go for full treatment.

Re: feeling alone- unsupportive husband
My boyfriend is supportive, but it didn't originally seem that way. Pre-braces, he would tell me I didn't need braces, no one else will ever notice, it's a lot of money to risk feeling even worse when treatment is done, etc. It turned out he didn't want to be super supportive of it because he though...

Re: Midline elastics question
I'd like to see the answer to this one too. I wore elastics to correct my midline 24/7 for 2 months. The day after my ortho told me to stop wearing those, my midline had already shifted back.

I'm the same way. I'm finding elastics all over the place... I have no idea how they get there.kathydell wrote:I think my fiance is getting tired of finding them all over the house. I don't know how they get where they get sometimes!?!? I think I have an elastics stealing ghost in the house.

Re: Wisdom teeth removal , anybody?
Thanks guys. The only thing that she had told me is that they are half way out , and she made it seem easy. I did not get a lot of details about it . I'm thinking she will put me under local since she has a small office . I just don't want to be awake to see it Close your eyes and you won't see any...

Re: Wisdom teeth removal , anybody?
I had mine removed when I was 20. They used local anesthetic and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) at the surgeon's office (if you opt for general anesthetic, you have to go to a hospital) and I didn't even need the prescription painkillers afterwards. The absolute worst part was being unable to eat soli...

It shouldn't be an issue. You can get it taken care of at your next adjustment if it's really bothering you.

Re: Same day braces?
My braces went on 2 days after my consultation. The only reason they couldn't go on right away was due to their patient scheduling. They only install them on certain days and times.

Re: Heavy Elastics vs. Medium
Since your ortho said the heavy ones are fine, give it a few days. If you're still experiencing significant discomfort, go back and pick up the correct elastics.

Re: Questions
You can tell whether you have a round or rectangular wire just by looking at it. If it has edges, it's rectangular. It sounds to me that your ortho is possibly a little flaky? You're only about halfway through your treatment, I would imagine, so changing elastics and wires is perfectly normal... I w...
