Retainer Feeling Tight?
I got the go ahead from my orthodontist to wear my retainer just at night, but when I go to put it in at the end of the day it feels really tight. Is that normal? I'm just so paranoid about my teeth moving

Re: Tee's Teeth
Just adding a 6-week update: Two weeks ago I saw my surgeon and was given lighter elastics and the go ahead for a soft food diet. At first, food would just get stuck at the back of my teeth, but my range of motion is getting better. I'm still eating a lot of eggs and pasta. I went back to work last ...

I had been told 2-3 weeks on a liquid/puree diet, and I was optimistically looking forward to 2 weeks...

Day 6 http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu142/tarynad/20150304_121947_zpsgjx3f9dg.jpg The swelling is going down. If it weren't for the awful bruising, I might be willing to go out in public. I think this is the best I've felt in the past week, though I'm still trying to adjust to my new diet. I wa...

Re: Applying Cold/Heat
I just had my surgery on Thursday and I just so paranoid that I'm going to do something to hinder my recovery. I wish I had someone right next to me to answer questions because I'm constantly like, "Is this normal? Is something wrong? Omg, something's wrong, isn't it?" I'm a little anxious...

Applying Cold/Heat
How long did you apply ice packs to your face after surgery and when did you start using heat? Everything I have says something slightly different: Cold for the first 48 hours? Heat after 5 days? The nurse told me to keep applying cold as long as there's swelling, but I know that becomes ineffective...

Re: BSSO Lower Jaw Surgery - Feb 25 - Anyone else recovering
A buddy! :) February 26th here. The swelling kind of freaked me out... I know, what did I expect? I think at least it peaked yesterday and should continue to go down now. I'm also very bruised and I can tell it's going to spread all the way down my neck. Most pictures I've seen just show that yellow...

Re: Tee's Teeth - Post-Op
Yesterday afternoon, I underwent my lower jaw advancement surgery. I'm not going to lie: I woke up in the recovery room feeling like I had just made a HUGE mistake. I had to convince myself that it's obviously to soon to make that judgement call. One side of my face gradually swelled, as I expected ...

Re: PRE & POST-OP SUPPLY LIST---add your list or ideas
I'm looking at the Nutrisqueeze bottles on the Cranio Rehab website, and it looks like that would come in handy, but the shipping for me is outrageous! Is there something similar that might be easier to find? Or what did you find worked best?

Surgery date set, a few general questions.
I have a date set for lower jaw advancement at the end of February. I've spent the past couple weeks highly anxious. Like, stressed to the point of not eating. I'm feeling a little better now. I'm sure that feeling will come and go because I don't know how you can elect to have a saw taken to your j...

Re: Bummed about back brackets
Yesterday I had brackets added to my back bottom molars (10 months in), but I was already familiar with the test of patience that is flossing my top back molars. I picked up those Plackers flossers, but I still can't quite maneuver the pick way at the very back. Maybe I have a small mouth. Those pic...

Re: How much did you guys pay for your braces?
$6000 for all orthodontics, no coverage or tax credit because I'm an adult and it's considered cosmetic
Surgery will be another $5000.
Surgery will be another $5000.

Re: To opt for surgery, or not...
I'm reading a lot of blogs documenting jaw surgery, but many of them are double jaw surgery, and sometimes including genioplasty. I'm just wondering what the difference might be in the recovery time and process with just lower jaw advancement. Any insight?

Re: To opt for surgery, or not...
Thanks, hidakat, your blog is very thorough and well written. If I decide to go through with it, I might have some questions for you. I've never really had breathing issues (but I do sleep with my mouth open). My bite has improved since braces: I used to chew quite exclusively on one side, and I've ...

Re: having wisdom teeth out at the SAME time as surgery?!
I asked my ortho if they could do both jaw surgery and wisdom tooth extraction in one go, but he said they prefer not to (maybe because my lower wisdoms never erupted?). So I had my wisdom teeth out in November. I haven't decided on jaw surgery yet.
