Re: Fidget's story
Today went great!! My braces came off quickly and painlessly. The assistant was so giddy that none of them broke. Ceramics almost always shatter. Only 3 needed a slight tug, but there was really no pain or even discomfort during he entire process. I go back on Thursday to get my essix retainers.... ...

Re: Fidget's story
A bit longer than the initial estimate of 15-18 months.. but the day has finally come! They're coming off tomorrow!!! I must admit, I'm a bit scared of the process. I've been told (by my orthodontist) that ceramic are harder to get off and typically shatter. I have had 2 brackets re-positioned, and ...

Re: Fidget's story
Braced for 18 months now. Two appointments ago, I got a power chain on top and went with a soft pink. Last appointment I decided to be brave and went with dark blue power chains for both top and bottom...wow, are they ever blue!! Took a little bit of time, but I eventually got used to them. Next app...

Re: Fidget's story
15 months down! I'm so happy with the results. My original timeline was 15 to 18 months, but at the last appointment the repositioned 2 brackets on the bottom and attached the lightest wire. I think I've got a bit more time to go...

Re: Which side of your mouth do you chew on?
Interesting question. I generally chew on the left side (unless it's after a wire change, then it's whichever side hurts less). As I read most of the replies are right-side, it makes me think.. I'm left handed, I wonder if that has something to do with it?

Re: Fidget's story
Had my third adjustment today... That makes it 6 months..woohoo! I got a new upper wire and an appointment in 4 weeks time to add the bracket to my lower bottom tooth since there is finally enough space to pull it forward. Me thinks this might hurt a bit...but I'm really looking forward to it happen...

Re: First day with braces!
I've had the spring since Day 1. I've had 3 different ones, stronger each time. It looks like there's enough space for the tooth now but I won't know for sure till the ortho puts the bracket on it.

Re: First day with braces!
Welcome alicat! I got my braces on at 34.... The jaw pressure will be there for about 4 days.. hang in there! Chewing is tricky for the first couple weeks, mostly because I had bumpers placed on the lower teeth so the top teeth wouldn't hit the brackets (those came off at the first adjustment) which...

Re: Fidget's story
Today was my second adjustment. New wires on top and bottom. The bottom has a little v in it. I didn't notice this until I had left the office, anyone know why they put it there? I got to brush without the wire there...yay! The spring is working, but not quite enough space yet to allow the other too...

Re: Bracey Stacey!
How long did it take before they engaged the hiding tooth? Once they did, how long did it take to line up? I've heard it can move forward pretty quick

Re: Bracey Stacey!
Fantastic progress Stacey! I have one tooth that is in behind the others.. I love seeing progress pics from others where it moves forward to join up with the rest of the teeth. Right now I have a coil spring that is trying to push the two one either side apart to make some room... Can't wait for the...

Re: Does your insurance cover adult orthodontics? How much?
Mine is the same .. 50% up to a lifetime maximum of $2500. I am also covered under my husband's insurance (same company) for a total of $5000. My braces are essentially free as they came in at $4800. I charge the monthly amount to my VISA and then submit it to the insurance company for re-imbursemen...

Re: Fidget's story
By calendar dates, April 7th is technically the 3 month mark. However, here are my 12 week progress pics. 12 weeks=3 months to me :) Slow progress.. I can see changes, but other people have posted pics where their teeth are almost perfectly straight after a few months.... I guess mine are more stubb...
