Sorry, been MIA!

Sorry for not posting. It's been a very busy week at work. I've got week one down with my braces. It was interesting for sure. Lots of soup, mashed potatoes, grits, ice cream, etc. A couple of days I wanted to rip them off! My lowers have already moved quite a bit and I was shocked. The inside of my...

Re: Braced

Hello there Huntsville! I'm also from Alabama, the central part. Congrats on your braces. I got mine on January 2nd. My teeth aren't really that sore but the inside of my mouth feels like it's been ripped to shreds!

Inside mouth is shredded!

Oh me, oh my! My lips and cheeks feel like I have eaten a dozen razor blades. I am so thankful that my teeth aren't really that sore. If had to deal with that too, I would be crying! I've rinsed with warm salt water, tried wax, used Peroxyl, no relief. Any suggestions?

Re: First Orthodontic visit coming up...nervous!

I felt the same way! My teeth were once all pretty and as I got older...not so much. I am very paranoid about my teeth so to the ortho I went and here I am, day 2 into braces at age 49!

Re: What was your first meal/food after braces?

My first meal was tomato soup. I truly think I could have eaten something else because I wasn't in any pain BUT I didn't want a bunch of food stuck in my braces! I am paranoid about that so I see myself losing weight in this journey of braces.....

Re: Hello from Alabama USA!

I just got mine put on yesterday. I can say, so far, I've had very minimal pain. I have the ceramic uppers and metal lowers. I am pleased with the way the ceramics look. They are not very noticeable. I talked to several people yesterday that didn't even notice I had braces! Good luck and let us know...

Braces on January 2

Well, it's been a whole day since I got my braces put on (ceramic uppers, metal lowers) and I can say it has not been bad at all. My teeth are not sore. The only thing is that the lowers are rubbing my bottom lip some but nothing a little wax can't cure. I started taking tylenol at 7am yesterday and...

Re: Hello from Alabama USA!

Hey Long Island! I looked into the 6 months braces but there were more expensive and my orthodontist isn't really a big fan. He says it's a fad. He will put them on if that is what the patient wants but he's old school I guess! My treatment plan is for 12-18 months. Good luck to you and I'm sure you...

Re: New to site and to Orthodontics

I was pondering the same thing. I finally opted for the ceramic on my uppers and metal on the lower. After some research on Invisalign I just decided that I needed something more "permanent." By that I mean, if I had Invisalign and it started bothering me, I would take them out which would...

Newbie on board!

Getting my braces (ceramic uppers, metal lowers) tomorrow. I am excited and nervous at the same time. Does that make sense? I'm hoping that by being here I can make new friends and get some advice!
