Re: This is an instrument of torture

One thing I keep saying to everyone - wear it for life! No exceptions! I deeply regret not wearing mine and now I'm back in braces 10 years later. I got used to mine - but I found if I stopped wearing it for a few days (don't do this!) I would have to get used to it all over again. I'd lisp and it w...

Re: Braces at 54

Hello and welcome!!

I also find flossing molars hard. Have you tried using the pick style flossers (like Plackers OrthoPick)? I find them a lot easier to get the job done, though the tension of the floss is lost after the first attempt I find.

Re: Removing braces soon - Advice

So long as you don't mind the sound of cement being chipped off, it's easy as pie!
Don't be nervous!!

Re: Clashing Brackets

I'm getting this too! How annoying is it!? I've found concentrating on moving my jaw differently avoids the clash, but when I try to 'relax' my jaw (resting molars on molars), it hits that bracket and nothing is comfortable. Let us know what your ortho says. I don't see mine again until the 9th of J...

Re: Hi all. First post/introduction

Hi SkizzyD! Looks like we got braces on the same day!? (Friday 6 December for me). I'm also in Aus, so if you find some products that help you with pain/ulcers do share! A lot of the product recommendations I see on here we can't get in Australia. I agree with the stay away from Google point. I aske...

Re: Braces take 2!
While you wait for the Rincinol, see if you can find 10% Carbamide Perioxide rinse. (Here it's sold under the brand name Gly-Oxide.) It's not an anesthetic or protectant, but it will clean out the ulcers which aids in healing.
Thanks for the tip! I don't usually g...

Re: Braces take 2!

Haha probably right! I also didn't realise teeth moved.. Ah well now I know better!

I'm in braces for 2 years this time. I can have straight teeth in about 8 months, but we're using the extra time to align my bite (I have an overbite). Right now my back molars don't touch, so eating is very fun!

Braces take 2!

Hi everyone! I'm 5 days in to having braces (top and bottom) for the second time. I'm so happy to have found this board and find I'm not alone! I first had braces at age 15, after a few years of other orthodontic treatment. I had a full mouth plate that I wore at night for at least a year (couldn't ...
