I think my braces are making my cheeks swell...

Hey all! I've had my metal bands on my first molars on all four sides for about 3 weeks now(the furthermost molars will be "banded" in another month), and I've noticed that they have already improved my alignment a great deal. For the first time, the molars on the right side of my mouth ac...

Re: Clicking/cracking teeth sound

I hear it all the time when I push my teeth forward or close my mouth really tight. I think I like the noise too because I feel like the teeth are moving, thought sometimes I'm afraid I'm going to crack one of my ceramic brackets. One of my incisors popped up a bit and I find myself pushing ...

Re: Impressions? Did you have one?

My impressions were taken a few weeks before my treatment plan appointment. I also got to see a "prototype" kind of model of what my teeth were going to look like on the day they put my brackets on.

It was very exciting!

Re: How aware are you of your braces?

Super aware of them as well. Now more than ever because when I got my bands on my molars, my orthodontist used a kind of band with a lingual sheath. It's kind of like a hook on the inner part of my molar. Currently I have four of these in and they poke at my tongue all of the time. Drives me mad. I ...

Re: Self conscious about smiling with teeth prior to braces?

I smile a lot more with braces than I did before without... this is regardless of the fact that I now have a gap because of an extraction (incisor) I had done...

I think it's because I'm practicing for when I do have a pretty smile? lol

Re: can you brush your teeth too much?

Glad I read this thread because I tend to brush after every snack/meal. Those pictures of the white spots from decalcification scared me into doing it though!

Re: Well, eating sure isn't fun anymore...

I feel the same way! One of my canines is up in a weird spot and food gets stuck between that tooth and the braked on the next. So hard to get it out of there and I'm too scared of decalcification that I don't even want to take a chance unless I can get to brushing my teeth pretty quickly.

Re: Getting Spacers Next Week

Soreness... lots of soreness! I really wanted to cry on the first night with the spacers. Picked up some Oragel to help with the pain which was gone by the 4th day or so. Also, make sure you put the spacers back in if they fall out or you swallow them (in your sleep or while you're eating). Good luck!

Honestly, I feel like electric toothbrushes are awesome, but nothing beats the power of the WaterPik!

Re: do you reckon this would be good for after surgery?

Ha! I bought something similar for my eyes. Not sure if it helped exactly, but it sure felt nice. I had seven extractions done at one time. However, the doctor's advice was to apply a cold ice pack in intervals during the first 24 hours after surgery (they don't do a whole lot after that) and then w...

Re: Soft foods post-surgery

Hey everyone! I had seven extractions exactly a month ago. All four wisdom teeth (two of which were impacted), an incisor and two pre-molars. I had them all at once and so the recovery was very hard for me. It took about four days for the swelling to go down and about two weeks to be able to eat rea...
