Orthodontist appointment in 2 days LOL
Sooo yall can see from my previous posts that I had a mouthful of braces from October 2013 to March/May 2015. (My bottom braces stayed on an additional 6 or so weeks) And then, not fully satisfied with my bottom arch, I went back to another orthodontist for 6 more months of braces on my lower arch. ...

Re: Dating with Braces
In the time that I had braces: I got divorced, signed up for a dating website, went on dates with attractive men (who also found me attractive!) and entered a serious relationship. Having braces while dating was not an issue whatsoever. In fact, I think it was a major turn on for this one guy I went...

Re: Bad smell when changing wires
YES on the Waterpik! Try blasting your tonsils to knock off any tonsil stones that may have developed. You can use a flashlight to examine back there. For mouthwashes, I recommend either Closys or TheraBreath, but getting rid of tonsil stones will make a HUGE difference!

Re: wire ties vs regular ligatures
I got wire ties on 6 of 8 brackets at my first adjustment in January. The ortho said she was using them on teeth that needed rotation and that the ties would hold the brackets to the wire better than the ligs would. At adjustment #2 two days ago, all the wire ties came off but the ortho repositioned...

Re: Round 3
I'm one week in, and I can already see some improvement. Below are before and one-week pics. I know the orthodontist will do more detailing, but I'm pleased with the progress so far.

Re: Round 3
Yeah, some of the teeth were rotated and one tooth was shorter than the others. Of course, the orthodontist also found additional issues that I hadn't even noticed, so I'm really glad I decided to visit this new orthodontist after some frustrations with my previous one. Basically this is the finishi...

Round 3
I took the plunge last Thursday and got braces again to correct some imperfections on my bottom arch. I was still in retention with my previous orthodontist but selected a new doctor for the re-treatment, and I'm very pleased with this decision. I'm braced on my bottom front 8 and treatment is expec...

Re: Ugh. Going back for more.
Oh! Forgot to add that this will be the round #3 of braces -- High school, adult braces #1, and now adult braces #2.
But you know what.... I don't even care!!! I'm just thrilled that I'll finally have the results I wanted all along.

Re: Ugh. Going back for more.
Hey y'all, I had my consult with the new orthodontist today, and I feel so much better now! She said my bite was great but suggested some finishing and detailing work that we could do to fix minor cosmetic issues. She agreed that my bottom front teeth could use some minor adjustments, and she also s...

Glad this was helpful! My "bar" is actually probably bigger than what others have.

Re: Ugh. Going back for more.
I raised my concerns with my current orthodontist yesterday, and he said I should start wearing my bottom Essix retainer full-time and see if that moves the bottom teeth back into place. (I had been given a Essix retainer to wear just at night to keep my molars in their place as spaces had opened up...

Re: Back in Braces again after removal and jaw surgery
Hey samoorelaw, that sucks. I'm sure you must be so frustrated. I hope it goes well with re-bracing today, and I hope the third time really is the charm. I'm in a similar situation -- my bottom teeth have gotten a bit crooked, despite (or maybe because of) a permanent retainer. Although I'm not sure...

Re: Ugh. Going back for more.
Here's a picture. I Know it's minor, but you can clearly see that the front teeth aren't properly aligned. I raised this concern with my orthodontist back in August, and his response was that the teeth look the same as they did when my braces were removed. So hellooo, obviously they weren't perfect ...

Re: Ugh. Going back for more.
Yeah, that's very good advice. I would definitely prefer a short course of Invisalign over more braces! The ortho office called back yesterday and said that the ortho wants more time to talk with me at the consult, so we moved it to December 8. I'm very encouraged by that! I feel like my current ort...

Ugh. Going back for more.
Hey guys. I got my braces off in March/May, but ever since I haven't been 100% satisfied with my bottom front teeth and the way they're positioned. Top teeth are great, bite is great, but I still notice small imperfections when I scrutinize my bottom teeth in the mirror. Today, I finally got the cou...
