bottom braces: [Metal] vs [ceramic with molar buildups]
Hi all, I have ceramic upper braces. I have been given the following choices for my bottom braces: (1) Metal (2) Ceramic with molar buildups during the whole treatment (2 years!) I would prefer ceramic braces, because I have a client-facing job. However, I'm not sure if I'll be able to stand molar b...

help - gap between premolar and molar due to gum problem?
I've had my top braces for two weeks, and a gap has developed between my second premolar and my first molar. I thought it was just normal tooth movement, but after looking at the gap closely today, it looks like the little triangle of gum (interdental papilla) that used to be between those two teeth...

Did you get a wire change on your first adjustment?
Hi all,
My first adjustment is due next week and I was wondering, do people usually get a wire change during the first adjustment? if not, what would the ortho do? just change ligs? I'm just curious as to what other people's experiences were

What type of brackets do you have, and do you get ulcers?
Hello! I'd be grateful if you could respond to these 4 questions about bracket type and canker sore: 1. What type of bracket do you have? (Metal, tooth-coloured ceramic, clear ceramic, sapphire, self-ligating ceramic...) 2. What brand are the brackets- if known? (Clarity, damon, inOvation C, inspire...

Re: Can you move molars forward without skeletal anchorage?
Thanks BikerChick85. Your teeth are looking great
did your ortho only use elastics to move your back teeth forward? it's reassuring to know that this is feasible without a tad.

Can you move molars forward without skeletal anchorage?
Hey guys, Does anyone know how much molars can be moved forward into an extraction gap, without skeletal anchorage (like a temporary anchorage device - TAD )? I have extracted my four 1st bicuspids and would like 70% of the space to be closed by moving molars and second bicuspid forward, once my mod...

Re: Braces then implants instead of closing extraction gaps?
Hello! I am 11 months into treatment with 4 extractions. I had severe crowding upper and lower and a protrusive profile WITH the crowding. I had to strain to close my lips. I needed a little bit of retraction but told my ortho that mainly I wanted the back teeth moved forward to close gaps. She's d...

Braces then implants instead of closing extraction gaps?
Hi Everyone I have a very narrow smile, with only the six front teeth showing. I also have crowding on my front teeth, with a high canine on one side. However, I've been told that my bite and occlusion are fine. Recently, I had 4 bicuspids extracted. I don't have braces yet. I am now having second t...

4 Extractions - Advice needed on how to eat?
Hi Everyone, I had 2 premolars extracted (1 upper, 1 lower) on the left side of my mouth 3 days ago. Next week, I'm having another 2 premolars extracted, this time it will be on the right side of my mouth. I am so apprehensive, I don't know how I'll manage eating. I can only barely manage right now,...

what happens when extractions create too much space?
Hi, I've been advised to extract 4 first premolars for my orthodontic treatment. I have crowding and a slight overbite, and my mouth doesn't close fully right now (when I do close it, there are dimples on my chin) I'm still trying to decide whether to go ahead with so many extractions. one thing I'm...

Re: Starting orthodontic treatment but moving abroad in a ye
Thanks everybody for your input. I'm still thinking about what to do. Cost-wise, treatment at my current location is 3 times cheaper than where I'm moving...I wish there was a way for me to have the full treatment here but I'm not sure whether I'll have to wait until I've moved to start treatment no...

Starting orthodontic treatment but moving abroad in a year
Hello, I'd like to start wearing braces, but the problem is that I'm moving abroad in 11 months. I've had an initial consultation with an orthodontist who told me that my treatment time would be 2 years. He said that most of the work would be completed during the first year, and that I wouldn't need...

I'm 25 and hoping to get braced soon! I was wondering what made you choose ceramic over metal?
