Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Ultimately, I decided the costs (mouth continually ripped to shreds from braces, concerns about bone loss) outweighed the benefits. Siobhan, your teeth look lovely, you must be happy it's all over. In your message you say the problems associated with the procedure outweigh the benefits? So do you t...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
I was one of those candidates that when you google the chances of successfully bringing down the canine ("over 40"), the news is not good. I'm happy to say the canine came down and I'm just back from my debanding. It's certainly not perfect and I can easily pick my teeth to bits for hours...

Re: Plackers Orthopick Flossers
Now that I have finally gained spaces between my teeth and my wires straightened out, I can use plackers and flossing has become not as tedious as with threader floss. I prefer plackers over oral b glide threader floss, and the sturdyfloss...don't even waste your money. The threader is flimsy. Agre...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Hey guys.... been a while since I've updated. Just more of the same here. My teeth and midline have shifted so horrifically that I'm about ready to just quit trying. I don't think the tooth has made any real progress based on an Xray I had last week. I don't want an implant so I think I'm going to ...

Re: Those in late 30s or 40s - do you regret getting braces?
I'm 44 and no regrets. It can be a pain, for sure, but well worth it in the end. I drank coffee and red wine with a straw the entire time. It was fine, maybe a little stained by the next appointment, but nothing terrible.
Congrats on taking the plunge.

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Siobhan, I am super relieved to hear that. What were the power chains like, pain wise? How long did it take for everything to move back to where it was? Powerchains make your teeth a little sore for a couple of days but really not bad. You know they're doing their magic so it's tolerable. My teeth ...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
FullSizeRender.jpg So after about 19 months...here it is! I had surgery done to laser off some of the gum around the tooth, which allowed my ortho to move the bracket from the bottom of the tooth to the middle. I lost almost a month waiting for the area to heal but now we're pulling this bad boy do...

Re: Ceramic Braces, Please Help
I'm in NYC and I paid $7,600 for 18 months of ceramic braces. Hope that helps and good luck.

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Hi Everyone. I am looking for someone, anyone, with a similar situation to mine, but that IS seeing progress. I am 34 years old. I've had impacted canines since I was a pre-teen, but always foolishly refused the ortho care to get them fixed. I've had prosthetic teeth on a flipper/retainer this whol...

Re: Bite turbos
It does get better. I had them too and I hated them but they work so hang in there. Initially, I used to mash food on the roof of my mouth with my tongue but as my teeth came together it got easier. In total, I had them on for 6 months. Best of luck and congratulations on starting your journey.

Re: New to elastics
The pain eases up after a few days, so don't worry. Each time I've had to wear a new configuration, it hurts for a while and then gradually subsides. The key is to wear them as prescribed otherwise the pain is always "new". Agreed on the cheek lacerations. They suck.

Re: Bite Block
I had the bites on the back of my teeth for about six months. They did help my bite open up. You will get used to them and it gets easier. You'll also be really happy when they come off.
