I just completed a year in braces as an adult (I'm 50). My teeth look fantastic, my bite has been realigned and even my TMJ has drastically been reduced.

Whoever told you that braces don't work on adults didn't know what they were talking about. Bone is alive and can be reshaped at any age!

Refuse to quit smoking.
Coffee with plenty of creamer and sugar at least 4 times a day.
Milky Way candy bars, Chex Mix, Bagels
Don't brush 3 times a day (twice maybe, once definitely)
Floss occasionally.
