I've had my permanent retainer for a year now and it took some getting used to in the beginning. It's still a bit hard to floss between the teeth where the retainer is though

I have an Essix retainer on my top teeth, and my hygenist suggested just using soap and warm water with a soft-bristled toothbrush. I've also experimented with alcohol-free mouthwash like Listerine Zero, it works pretty good and it also gets the odors out of it

When I got my top braces off, I was actually excited. And it didn't hurt at all

After over 22 months, I'm thrilled to say that my journey will be ending in 4 days! I just got the news at my appointment this morning that I will be getting my braces off on Tuesday afternoon as well as getting impressions done for my retainers!

Yesterday I started trying EOS lip balm. I got Strawberry Sorbet flavor and it glides on really easily - plus it keeps my lips really smooth

I was a bit nervous just before I got my braces, but the hygenist that put them on talked me all the way through the process so I'd feel a bit more comfortable. 18 months and several adjustments (and an extraction) later I'm quite used to them now

It just takes time, you'll definitely notice some progress within a couple of weeks. Good luck on your journey!

All my wisdom teeth came out in 2008 (first the top right, then the remaining three about a month later), so all I had was weak tea and soup for the first day. I also had killer headaches, so it's a good idea to take some ibuprofen or any painkillers that your dentist prescribes and just sleep it off

Approaching 17 months...

Went in on Wednesday and got my bands changed: red powerchains top and bottom along with green ligs on top in the back for Christmas. Going back the day before Christmas Eve for a powerchain change, hopefully I'll know soon when my braces are coming off
