Re: Life with braces has been good until now...is this norma

So other than dry lips and raw cheeks the first week or so, life with braces has been pretty normal. Now all of a sudden my teeth are SO sensitive to cold. Like BAD. Drinking anything with ice is completely put of the question and even I have to use warm water while brushing my teeth. Did this happ...

Re: Question about archwires

They weren't able to engage my rotated tooth until iI was six months in braces. But when they finally did it was crazy, my tooth was practically straight by the time I got home. When you guys say "rotated" do you mean the front of the tooth is facing the side, to some degree? I'm very ear...

Re: The 3 week wait !!

I made it through my 2nd adjustment! My top wire was upgraded to a stainless steel 16. However, I am still in a 14 on bottom, as the teeth in that arch are still a bit too tender and unstable to be able to upgrade the wire. I chose "Tiffany"-like teal ligs this time, but am not sure I like...

Re: Dry lips..

EOS lip balm in sweet mint! There are various flavors. You can find it at Target, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, and Ulta. I have one in my purse, and one at work. A true live saver. :)

Re: Two Stories in One: Our His and Hers Matching Braces

Ellabelle, can you tell me how your fiancé felt when they hooked in the tooth that wasn't connected to the wire? AKA the one that needed to join the party. I have one rogue tooth, on the bottom as well, that is not attached to the wire and I'm not sure what the next step is. I don't currently...

Re: Braces Wednedsay!!!

Don't be worried if you have regrets. A lot of us did. When braces first go on and they feel so big and uncomfortable! It won't last, as soon as you start seeing movement you'll be so glad you did it! I agree with Starfish! You may have buyer's remorse at first, but remember our words: IT WILL PASS...

Re: Let the Journey Begin....

I too have one of my front lowers that is now sitting noticeably higher than the others! This particular tooth has been extremely temperature sensitive for almost a week (started with extreme cold, then room temp, then warm & hot). I actually stopped in to my ortho's office last Wednesday for a ...

Re: Metal vs ceramic

I went full metal and I don't regret it for a minute! Love the way it looks and feels, love the way the ligs look on it, etc. The people who went ceramic will tell you it's the only way to go. As I'm sure the people who went full metal will tell you the same for metal. I have a coworker who went cer...

Re: The 3 week wait !!

Here is my week 7 picture, and 1 week after my first adjustment. I'm definitely seeing some progress on the uppers now. The lowers are slower going, but they are sore this week so hopefully that is a good sign! I can already tell, with the little bit of movement I have experienced and getting a snea...

THAT is one good looking grill! You have every right to be fascinated, CONGRATS!!!! :jump: I am 2 months in, and absolutely can't wait to be where you're at -- the half way mark?! Just got my wire changed at my first adjustment and now things are finally starting to look promising. Congrats again --...

Re: Undoing Extractions - My progress so far, with pics!

Hi angryhead, I was told at one consultation that I would need 4 extractions, and a 24 month treatment plan. The idea of extractions didn't sit right with me. I know my mouth is small, but letting go of 4 healthy teeth just didn't feel right. Upon further research, I decided that was definitely not ...

Re: The 3 week wait !!

I survived my 1st adjustment! It didn't take long, and was relatively painless. I started out by having my wires removed, then I was off to see my regular dentist for my cleaning (as you may remember, I wasn't able to get one before my install). Let me tell you something about having the wi...

Re: The 3 week wait !!

My 1st adjustment is this coming Tuesday, the 8th, so I thought I would stop in and post a quick update. I thought I wasn't seeing much movement, but I took an up-angle picture tonight and compared it with one from Week 1, and can see some definite progress. I will upload the comparison, so you all ...

Re: Braces tomorrow!

Hi, I'm new here. I've been wanting braces for a few years now and this year I can finally afford them. I was suppose to get them in my teens but the orthodontist scared me so I chickened out. I want them for bite problems rather than cosmetic problems (but I won't be disappointed with a nice strai...

This is exactly my problem! I didn't have porcelain white teeth to begin with, but sheesh they are looking so dingy lately I can barely stand it!!
