Re: How do they straighten a tilted lower rear molar?
TADs don't hurt for the same reason people go their whole lives with pins and screws in that are used to set bones. Your bone simply does not care after the initial healing is over. Re: pain with TADS
I am probably the odd one, but I just got a TAD put into the roof of my mouth and I had REAL pain. My ortho used topical gel and injected lidocaine, but had to go back and add more. Even so, the pain was pretty intense while he tightened it. SO glad that's done...praying it stays put and doe...

Re: The never ending story of Clo's braces
Oh my goodness...this is a very sad tale! I'm about to embark on attempt 3 to fix my open bite and I'm terrified. I hope my ortho is one of the able ones... We're starting with TADS and back bands, then, after 6 mos, he will brace me if he's seeing progress. Praying for progress...not sure I can aff...

Re: Successful Myofunctional Therapy?
The Dr. did mention an appliance as well...he just didn't seem really positive it would work. I asked for a % chance it would be successful (long term) and he said40-50%

Successful Myofunctional Therapy?
I'm wondering if anybody has encouraging information about success with myofunctional therapy? I'm 33 and have just been informed that in order to fix my open bite, I might require surgery or screws (?) in my jaw along with braces. I don't know why my ortho thinks this, my 3rd time in braces, would ...

Re: Open Bite Treatment?
Thank you all for this great information. I just had an unsettling visit with an ortho who couldn't give me much hope that any option would be permanent (I am a tongue-thruster, 2times previously in braces). I'm just completely overwhelmed!
