Re: Bonded Retainer vs. Removable

I have both as well My upper bonded retainer is just to keep the gap closed between my front 2 teeth and it's not really that hard to take care of, just need to get a floss threader. It doesn't take much more time to floss once you get used to it but it does help to start with the bonded teeth first...

Re: How do you clean your retainer?

I have two hawley retainers and my ortho said to just brush them with toothpaste and if I notice any buildup then to soak them in 1/2 water 1/2 vinegar for 10 minutes then brush normally. She said that denture cleaner or retainer cleaner is fine too but not to use anything with alcohol or to boil th...

Re: I wore the wrong set of Invisalign PLEASE HELP

Honestly I would call when you can just to be sure, but if you can't call I would probably continue to wear tray 27 until it was the set time for me to switch to tray 28.

Re: How do elastics not pull the tray off?

Thanks kittenpoint. Do you also have buttons on the bottom, and hooks cut in the top tray? Do you know why they don't cut hooks in the bottom tray? I wonder if the bottom trays don't hold as well? Thanks. Yes I have metal buttons on the bottom and hooks cut out from the top tray. I don't know why t...

Re: How do elastics not pull the tray off?

The buttons and the overall tightness of the trays keeps them from being pulled off. Depending on the size of your elastics you really can't yawn very wide as the force from the elastics keep you from really opening your mouth too far. Don't worry about pulling the trays out with the elastics, I've ...

Re: Does the Lisp Ever Go Away?

I'm on tray 12 and I still have a lisp with the trays. Of course I don't have to speak that much during the day so I don't get a lot of practice talking with the trays in. Though I have noticed that the longer that I leave them out the worse my lisp is and that when I first change trays it gets a bi...

Re: Anyone's first trays not fit?

When I went and got mine done they waited until after I knew if I was going to have to get a root canal, but even then I had to get the top mold taken twice. It took 6 weeks for Invisalign to reject the first mold and then another 6 weeks to get the trays; not including the snow storm that pushed it...

Re: Fresh Guard by Efferdent

I know this post is a bit old but I recently got a starter package of Fresh Guard from my ortho to try out and I finally did, and I hated it. Thankfully I waited to try it on the day when I changed them because afterwards I could not keep the trays in my mouth. I tried this yesterday. I soaked them ...

Re: How did the invisalign work? Cosmetic Dentistry?

Your teeth look great and very white! Usually those teeth are slightly shorter than the front two but I've seen a lot of people that had their teeth filed down when they were younger to make them even; I think it looks a bit awkward to have all your teeth filed the same length. Also some people with...

Re: Elastics Names (bear? unicorn? ostrich?)

I just started with elastics and I have Bears, which are 1/4" 4.5 oz. I can really feel the increase in pressure with these. I'm also afraid to yawn with them in, I think they'd snap on me

Re: Snuff and Invisalign?

That seems like a very bad idea. I would imagine that it would not only severely stain your teeth from being held against them in the Invisalign trays for hours, but I think it would also really stain or even damage your Invisalign. Maybe nicotine patches would be a good idea because I can't really ...

Re: Long term use of retainers

Instead of Retainer Brite could you maybe use a little bit of peroxide or rubbing alcohol to disinfect the retainers. I'm not sure what would damage the retainers but maybe letting them soak for a few minutes before rinsing them with water might help with the infections. I wonder if you might be hav...

Rubbing alcohol or vodka might work. I've used vodka to remove the sticky left over from stickers and price tags.

Re: "Orthodontic Elasitcs" on Amazon... oh my.

So here on youtube somebody who did it all himself! Very impressive how he managed to close his open bite on his own! That must give the open biters on this forum good hope. If he can do it himself without surgery, than our ortho's must also be able to do this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txwM4N...
