Re: Pain from hole in tooth or braces???

It's official! I got 3 cavities - YES 3. 2 of them both the dentist and I knew about but they were in an extremely difficult spot and unreachable (in between my teeth, which my teeth are badly cramped). Although I'm getting 2 teeth extracted sometime soon my teeth have surprisingly moved quite a lot...

Re: Pain from hole in tooth or braces???

Matilda - I had a relatively easy birth and the pain was actually not a focus for me it was the end result and the overwhelming drive to get "the job done" and meet my baby. I always knew I had a high pain threshold I guess that doesn't count for my mouth. Hehehe

Re: Pain from hole in tooth or braces???

Thanks isthistaken! It helps to know that sensitivity and "first" adjustments are horrible. The pain has subsided and I am not getting it when I eat anything sweet just when I chew on that side.

Re: What is your favorite brace food?

Well I love mash, bananas and choc puddings that heat up in the microwave. Not a major fan of ice cream but have been tempted as I have a bad sweet tooth. But I have something that makes this worthwhile, I get hubby to bite opposite ends off a Tim tam and I dunk and suck my coffee through it. It mel...

Pain from hole in tooth or braces???

Help! I have braces on top teeth and have had them for 3 weeks.... Have already noticed a great improvement already! However last sun night I broke the wire flossing! My teeth moved that close that the floss got stuck. I went back to the dentist and had a new wire put in on Tuesday. (Holy crappola :...

Re: New Member!!!

Hi Amanda, welcome. I too am a newbie at 28yo with a 2yr old terror of a son.

Glad to hear that your journey is just beginning like me. This board is so helpful for both us newbies to learn from those who have been at it awhile. The support and communal commiserations is fantastic!

Wires! Argggggghhhhhh

Thank you for your help Bria. The wax has become my new best friend, although I only use it now on the back anchors?? As there is wire poking out and it's very painful. I won't be able to visit the dentist until Monday so brushing is a real pain cause when brushing the wax comes off and when I spit ...

Re: Fastest time from consultation to braces?

I saw my dentist on 6th June for a clean and complained about some pain I'd been having. For the millionth time he mentioned braces and said the pain I'd had was crowding and the longer I put it off the worse its gonna get. So I said to him "let's do it" and he asked when I wanted to start it. I tol...

Jabba's journey

Thanks so much Hanka and Bria! Today was actually what I expected and then...... Not so. I went to my local cafe and ordered a HUGE cooked breakfast. I couldn't finish it and even sadder :-(( I couldn't enjoy the bacon cause they made it so crispy (usually my fav kind) but the spacers made it so dam...

Re: Spacers tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the big day.....
The spacers come off, and I get about a minute of relief before the braces go on. Omg so excited yet am dreading tomorrow night and the days to follow. Wondering how much my speech will be affected as I return to work the next day. :yuck:

Re: Oh god, just got them on today, oh god oh man oh god

Hi everyone! Wow such a supportive forum this is! Val's feelings on her vanity is obviously a common issue amongst us all. I haven't been braced yet (day 2 of 7 spacers) and already I'm feeling doubt about doing this. Reading all these comments make me feel like I can do it, and if I can Val so can ...
I can't decide between the spacers and the extractions, which was more uncomfortable. All I can say for sure is that it really gets better from here. Good luck on your journey!
Thanks Bria, Its day 2 now and I woke up with a stinking headache but it went away with my fav coffe...

Re: Spacers tomorrow!

Day 1 of spacers.... What can I say except that they are so uncomfortable! I got 4 (2 on each side) on the top. Eating and chewing hasn't been too much of a chore until now - dinner time! I keep getting lock jaw and its quite painful but I'm starving so I will persist. Already looking forward to nex...

Spacers tomorrow!

Hi all, I'm a newbie here! I have been browsing this site since I 'bit the bullet' and said to my dentist "ok ill do it"! He's been pestering me for years and its getting to the point where crowding is painful. My dentist is a cosmetic dentist and has done many orthodontics over the years, he ...
