Apparently yes. My dentist tells me that more than twice a day is just like brushing your enamel down the drain. This is a bit of a cheat I have, especially during cleanings. There's something called MI Paste - you take a pea-sized amount and smear it on your teeth and refrain from spitting it out for awhile. I use a WaterPik to wash out nuts and other stubborn particles. I'm under no illusion though that the WaterPik exempts me from a thorough flossing at least once a day.

I do Sensodyne and Colgate, never with whiteners in them though.
