Re: Bummed about surgery results

Your chin is pretty pronounced for a woman (post op). I won't sesame you. If you're considering genioplasty, you should go for it. All of my friends told me my underbite shouldn't bother me. I only gained peace after the decision to go for the surgery. Yeah I had three surgeons evaluate me (long st...

Re: Is insurance coverage all or nothing? How much were you covered?

My surgeon's fees were somewhere around 30k, then I had the hospital fees. I paid 3k out of pocket and my insurance covered the rest.

Bummed about surgery results

I have been avoiding this, but I need to share. I'm not super happy with my surgery results. My bite is good, but I think my profile and face is still unbalanced. My chin is too long, and I think I should have had a genioplasty with my double jaw surgery. Its depressing, and I didn't want to care as...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies

Hi everyone. Decided to jump in here since I'm scheduled for LeFort 1+SARPE and BSSO on 11/23. Yes the day before Thanksgiving. So, my family is doing Thanksgiving this weekend so I won't feel left out. Right now, when I close my mouth only the molars on the back right side are able to connect. The...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies

Hey CandyApple, My upper lip is the main numb one. No straws, and I still dribble when I try to drink from a cup most of the time. My bottom lip is okay. I have a lot of numbness in my mouth (especially the roof of my mouth) and the sides, so eating is really weird, slow and messy. One thing I noti...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies

Hi all! Surgery went well on Tuesday. Not a lot of pain so far, just some at night (I think my jaws get stiff while I sleep). Still on prescription meds, and those are making me a bit dizzy and groggy. Definitely got some good swelling in my cheeks--I'll post some pictures up later this afternoon! ...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies

pantlover: Glad to see you post! Sorry you have had such a rough time. I had a lot of stiffness as well for the first few days. Things got better on day 5 (Sunday for me). CandyApple: Yeah the dizzyness comes and goes. I felt really good yesterday, then kind of worn out and achy today. I think I ov...

Re: Midline is of and gaps between teeth

My teeth are a bit off after surgery as well, so I did some research. It is really common apparently to have to still shift things around post-surgery. Think about it, they fixed the bone issues, but the teeth may still need adjusting, especially after any widening procedures (lefort). I have space...

Re: Still feel like I *look* like I have an underbite (after left 1 and genio)...anyone else?

Hi there, Pics would help (don't feel bad though, I still haven't figured out how to get them on here!) Is there a reason for the genio instead of a bsso? I had a three piece lefort and bsso to correct my underbite/openbite. I can tell that my chin is still my chin, but it totally looks less pointy ...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies

Thanks! Almost a week out now. Saturday was the worst day. Lots of nausea dizziness. Felt better for a bit in evening, then it came back. Yesterday was pretty good. I'm not wired or banded, and I don't have a splint. I have been able to get baby spoons in for food, but my mouth is pretty numb, so it...

Re: Is there a reason we don't mention doctors names

Another thing to keep in mind is that many surgeons don't have the best bedside manner. They became surgeons because they love performing surgery, meeting with patients is the least enjoyable part of their job to them. That doesn't mean that a surgeon shouldn't take good care of their patients, but...
