Re: Getting braces in two weeks- very nervous

Spree, I agree. This board is great. I pored over the many topics and posts in advance of getting braced in July of 2013. I was just about to turn 52. The thought of the extractions almost sent me into a tizzy for sure, but I was determined to make this small improvement in my life. I had to put tru...

Re: Today is the day!!! So nervous!!

Congrats on the start of your journey. Be generous with wax, rinse with salt water if you have any sores spots. I'm 53 now and this whole thing has been kind of like childbirth in that the pains have faded into my memory after being almost halfway thru my three year treatment plan. It will likely be...

How exciting for you and how funny ... Your food plans! I could go for the popcorn myself but have another 30 months or so to wait. Good things come to those who wait, right?

Good luck, leeannd! Update us later on your bracing experience as I think actual reviews of that process is helpful and informative for others like you. (YouTube is helpful too to see what to expect).
EmBRACE the experience.

Re: Hello! New and scared!

Gappedteeth, you can do it! 18 is not old for braces. I'm sure others here will agree on that point. My user name here gives you a clue about my age and I get to wear my braces for three years! More important than having a "perfect smile" is that you are taking care of your teeth! Good luc...

Re: What do you feel....

Feeling deprived from sampling the Christmas goodies I would normally enjoy. Everything has nuts in it and not pleasant to try to eat or clean up after. Silver lining is that I don't need the calories anyway and it won't be a forever before I can enjoy the seasonal goodies again. Gotta stay focused ...

Re: First Orthodontic visit coming up...nervous!

Welcome, librarian. :) This forum is a great place for encouragement and support. Without it, I probably wouldn't have made the decision to move forward and take the plunge. I am now 52 but notice there are even more "experienced" folks on here with braces. I'm about five months into a thr...

Re: Hello :)

Hello! Congrats on starting your journey. Hope that since you are now , what, 19 days into this, that you're settling into a routine. Routine = eat, brush, floss, wax. Repeat. Salt water rinses are great, too, in those first several weeks. Just deciding to get the braces was the hardest part for me....

Re: Braces to correct an open bite

What progress from your first photo! How exciting! I have open bite, too, and see that my brackets are configured very much like yours. When I began, I could put a pencil between my uppers and lowers. Now, after almost five months, I can just barely get the tip of my tongue in between uppers and low...

Re: 2nd adjustment...oyyyyyy

My second adjustment was today. I think I have crochet work on my top wire! :) During adjustment, the tech had difficulty getting a couple of brackets closed on the bottom. There was lots of pushing and prying. It didn't hurt at the time but by now, wow... Feels like my teeth are clinched and I can'...
