Re: Lower jaw surgery in 48 hours

I had the same surgery just over a week ago and my swelling has gone down great by getting up and back to normal as quickly as possible! I actually booked 6 weeks off work not knowing how quickly I'd recover. 2-3 weeks is fine. I really got anxious as it was my first operation... But you wake up and...

Re: Lower jaw surgery, 1 week mark [Pictures]

You're recovering fast. I see almost no swelling on the 1 week photo. Hope I recover as fast as you after my underbite surgery. Looks great btw Thanks alot. Feel so much better even with some swelling than I did before surgery! Yes it seems to be going down fast, I've made sure from day 1 to get up...

Lower jaw surgery, 1 week mark [Pictures]

Hi everyone, I'm new to the board and it feels great to find a community where people are going through the same/similar things as you feel freakishly different/alone during recovery! Haha. I had a large overbite which has effected my confidence for years, always trying to push my jaw out when peopl...

Re: Weight GAIN and braces

I've just had jaw surgery, last week. Met with the dietitian and I have gained a pound on a liquid diet! Most people seem to be losing shed loads. Bodies work in different ways I guess

Re: Drinking tea/coffee with braces

I'm hooked on black coffee, which probably isn't great. My sister got her teeth whitened after braces and they look fine now... So I'm just going to tell myself it will all be fine.

Re: Overjet/overbite problem?

My braces worsened my overbite as they straightened the teeth, because they had moved to meet naturally. I just had surgery to correct it and having a normal bite feels so different! But amazing.

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?

I put it off because when I was younger I thought I'd look worse with braces... Had them at 19 and never looked back. 1 week post jaw surgery and feel like my confidence is coming back!

Re: PRE & POST-OP SUPPLY LIST---add your list or ideas

Brilliant list! I found what I needed more than anything was things to break up the days during recovery... So plenty of documentaries! I made the mistake of watching 'An Idiot Abroad' which caused me jaw pain haha.

Re: June2013 buddies? Surgery on upper or both jaws

I had mine last thursday the 31st of May. Feeling myself and ready to take on the world but the fact I still look like a hamster is frustrating me! It's all fine though and was the best thing I've ever done. I had lower jaw surgery for an overbite... Good luck with yours
