Re: Help! Tough decision! Elastics Alf & Twinblock 12mm Over

I really don't know all that much about skeletal vs. dental overbites, but wouldn't a conservative approach be the first choice? If elastics or the twinblock don't work, at least you will be sure about the surgery. My overbite has been reduced about 30% with double elastics in the last two months. Y...

Re: Is it OK to settle for less than perfect?

I am only about 6 months in and I would like to stop. My smile has changed so much and achieved what I wanted that it seems unnecessary to shift my midline at this point. Ortho won't have it- he wants "perfect". I am kind of afraid of perfect.

Re: Having a Cleaning With Braces On?

I had mine cleaned a few weeks ago with the wires on. Like JonsonSon they used an ultrasonic cleaner and scraped a little. After that the floss and polish. They still do not feel clean to me. I had two teeth I asked the hygenist to look at closely because they always feel "dirty" but she s...

Re: Braces Concerns

I would check with your dentis to appraise the condition of your teeth. It is my understanding that they can file teeth down to a certain extent without compromising them, but I too would be concerned with an ortho who filed teeth at every appointment.

Re: notice of first change

Within a week I saw my low hanging bicuspids start to move up. Within three months they moved up to a normal position.

I just got elastics yesterday and the thickest wire on my lower teeth. I could not even eat a piece of cooked eggplant today!

Most Surprising Early Improvements?

I am really surprised that my top and bottom teeth now touch all the way around. In four months this has created the verticle height I sought to open my bite. I really thought this would take a long time to do so I am very pleased to feel those toothers touch. Anybody else surprised with their early...

Re: Veneers after braces

I think your smile looks great. I am glad you are going to wait before making any decision on veneers. If I remember correctly you had some issues with your teeth- correct? If so, I think it would be best to consider not causing any trauma to your teeth, especially since your smile is so much improv...

Re: Ortho Not Being Truthful?

I think the pontif issue is chair time, as it would take longer each visit to re-place the pontic in the wire. So I am miffed about this because promising something that you don't plan on delivering is not right. I may have chosen the other ortho I was considering if I had know this. All in all thou...

Re: new gaps forming

I was concerned the second month when I had a gap open up between two teeth in my lower arch. These teeth were pretty straight with mild crowding. Into the third month now and the gap is closed.

Re: Why do I put up with the pain?

I too question myself. My friends ask me why I have braces because my teeth are so nice. I need implants so I wanted my bite fixed. I think at present I would have done very well to live with my overbite and just have gotten the implants. If I had done this I would be almost done by now. I am re-thi...

Ortho Not Being Truthful?

I am a little upset today. First off my ortho agreed to tie in my pontif (I have missing teeth) into my archwires when I moved to rectangle wires. I asked him last month if we could do this and he said "no" because the round wires would just spin the teeth around. Turns out I have had rect...
