Re: 2 more weeks to go and one final conundrum

I’m afraid my black triangle is quite visible when I smile – and I also have a number of smaller ones around the other front teeth although it may be true that I would notice it more than others – I totally agree that we can become a little obsessed with every little detail with our teeth It sounds ...

Re: 2 more weeks to go and one final conundrum

Thanks plugnickel69, good to know it at least doesn't hurt. I didn't know that black triangles are more likely to appear on adults with braces but I guess I should look at it this way - it's still looking a lot better than before even with the black triangle. You write about laminates, what exactly ...

2 more weeks to go and one final conundrum

Yeah, I am finally joining the group of people getting their braces off – just two more weeks to go and it’s my turn after 2½ years :D At my latest adjustment I was told that next time was debanding time and I had previously been told that I could get some filing done (IPR) between my two upper fron...

Elastics dilemma

Have anybody in here been in a situation where they were told to wear elastics in a certain size and a certain configuration and after wearing them for a couple of days your teeth ended up hitting against each other (lower canines hitting the back of the uppers) – would you try to wear elastics in a...

Re: All done tomorrow! Why do I feel so apprehensive?

I can absolutely relate to that – since I heard from my ortho that I would get them off before the end of the year, I have been worrying about the thought of it and obsessing over every little detail of my teeth and whether they would be getting off too soon because when they are off there’s nothing...

Re: Crown

Oh no that doesn’t sound good Kipepeo, hope that it can somehow get resolved without having to get a new crown – and boy am I envious about the 2 month mark to debanding, best of luck with it :)  And congratulations to you TMJJill with your debanding – hope you’re happy with the result, although it...

Crown

I wanted to hear if any of you have had to replace a crown after finishing your braces treatment – or know that you will have to when your treatment is done? I have a crown on my left bottom side and sometimes it feels as if it’s a bit too high – as if the bite is not quite right

Re: Elastic issues

That’s great to hear – I was hoping it was something like that. I have to wear them to fix a scissor bite (the opposite of a cross bite but same principle I guess). How long did you have to wear them – and did they work for you?

Elastic issues

Since my last adjustment I was given instructions to wear 4 elastics all day (I have only ever tried to wear 2 elastics at the time). The 2 of them were attached on the inside of two molars via something called a ‘button’ and then up to the outside of one of my upper molars (hope that makes sense). ...

Re: One bracket fell off. Orthodontist says it's ok??

I’m also very surprised you were told to wait 4 weeks. In the beginning of my treatment a bracket came loose during the summer when they were closed for the holidays at my dental school and when I wrote to my ortho about it he told me to come in during one of the emergency watches and get it fixed

Re: How long does each visit to the orthodontist last?

Since I’m having my braces done at a dental school I was prepared from the beginning to spend longer time at each adjustment than otherwise and so far I can barely remember having an adjustment that lasted under 1 hour – it is usually between 1-1½ hour, but then that also includes having to wait for...

Re: 2 weeks post extraction...is this normal?

I experienced something similar in connection with my extraction of 4 premolars: I didn’t notice anything hurting but I was keeping a close eye to the extraction sites and noticed one site was very red and looked like some kind of inflammation. I went to my regular dentist to check it out and she cl...

Re: Scissor bite

Great that you found out some more info on it and yeah, aren’t we lucky to be so special - as if I weren’t special enough already with the way my teeth looked   (at least they have improved drastically). I got onto this site a little late so I’m actually already 2 years into treatment which wa...

Re: Scissor bite

Yes, that sounds exactly like mine and it doesn’t feel natural at all – although it’s hard for me to compare since I haven’t had a normal bite as long as I can remember. Having had both crowding, open bite and scissor bite means you can get a little confused about how it is really supposed to feel :...
