They probably change powerchains at every appointment to ensure that they remain tight to close the gaps. Don't worry, your ortho knows what he/she is doing!

I got my hawley retainer today! My ortho gave me a smiley face on mine because I'm always wearing earrings with a smiley on them so she thought they'd suit me :) I really like them! I'm interested to hear about retainers. It's a long way off for me but I would like something to wear at night and to be free in the day. Then there is the possibility of permanent ones on the back of teeth which I don't like so much but maybe they are not so bad after wearing braces for two years....

THEY'RE OFF! I can't stop smiling They turned out way better than I expected them to, I go back next week to get my retainers! Too happy right now.

What type of retainers will you have? If you have only bonded retainers, eating will not be an issue. If you have hawley retainers you should be able to eat with them in if they are reasonably robustly made and you are careful what you eat. Congratulations on reaching this stage!
