Re: 6 Month Progress - For those thinking about it ... Do it

Wow, your teeth look amazing! I had extractions too and I love them. My gaps haven't closed as quickly as yours but they're nearly there. Great progress!

Re: Veneers after braces

Your teeth look fabulous by the way! That's a hard decision! I think your dentist is right, you need to give yourself time to get used to your new teeth once the braces come off. In time you might become really happy with them without veneers. The thing that worries me about veneers is the permanenc...

Re: No Flossing with Waterpik?

I believe the official advice is that you should floss as well but you have to find what works for you. Personally I find interdental brushes easier, quicker and more effective than flossing. And, the water pik is pretty good at getting between your teeth if used correctly so I would use water pik a...

Re: How obvious is my off center midline?

I think your teeth look fantastic! However, I also have an off centre midline, which was part of the reason I got braces in the first place. I know how distracting it is. Every time I look in the mirror I notice it and feel a bit annoyed. I think if it bothers you then you should ask your orthodonti...

Re: When closing a gap do the teeth move forward or backward

I have exactly the same problem. When I asked my orthodontist about it he was very non-specific and just said the teeth move "a little bit forwards, a little bit back". I'm not worried about it too much as I trust the orthodontist to know what they are doing, but I'm interested to know how...

Re: How long do you think it will take to close this gap?

I think it depends what your orthodontist is trying to do. I had a gap similar to yours and my orthodontist first used a power chain specifically to begin to close the gap. In about three months it was half closed. Now his aim is to improve the orientation of the teeth so closing the gap is no longe...

Re: Pain, pain go away...

I don't think I'll be any help really but just to say I'm seven months into treatment now and last adjustment was the worst yet! The pain lated for seven days! I just kept taking pain killers and telling myself it will all be worth it in the end. Hope you're feeling better.

Re: Got my lower brackets fitted today

The extraction gaps have not closed completely but they are much less noticeable now and I've had the braces for six months. I had power chains on for the first three months and in that time they closed about half way. I was never really too bothered about them though as the top one closed really qu...

Re: Got my lower brackets fitted today

Loads of progress! I had extraction gaps which quickly started to close up with power chains. I can honestly say that the upper ones were uncomfortable at first but it didn't take long to get used to them. Other people who I've known to have both upper and lower have said that the upper ones are muc...

Re: Not sure whether to go a head with treatment

I had second thoughts before getting braced too. And then when I got my braces on they were so uncomfortable I wished I hadn'tdone it! But it only took a couple of days getting used to them and now I often forget I have them on. No one seems to notice or if they do they don't say anything. You've go...
