Re: Introduction...Getting Braces at 50
Well, sadly...there has been a change of events. After looking at x-rays, it has been discovered that I do not have enough bone on my upper top front teeth to be able to support braces. So now I am in the process of having to decide if I want implants in place of my four upper front teeth...or...try...

Re: Cost?
I'm in America and I have decided to get my braces done at a dental school, which is much cheaper. The total cost is $3500.00 which includes consultation, x-rays, impressions, teeth cleaning, extractions or fillings (if needed) and the braces themselves. I put down an initial payment of $700.00 and ...

Re: Does anyone actually have traditional metal braces anymo
I will be getting all metal, since my Otho said that the metal is better.
A co-worker has the ceramics and told me to get the metal because the ceramics eventually wear down, and now it's hard to keep the bands on, because there is hardly any of the lip left on the bracket.

Re: Is there anybody who had problems with brackets on crown
I have one crown, and I asked my otho if a bracket would be placed on that crown, and she said yes, it needs to be replaced.
Eventually my crown will be replaced with something more modern (I had that crown put on when I was twelve) so I'm not worried about it.

Re: Braces at (almost) 49
I am 50 and will be getting braces soon. I have gotten the x-rays, impressions, consultation, and am waiting for my Otho to call to tell me what the treatment plan will be. I'm going to a university dental school to have my braces done, because it's much cheaper, but the process is slower. I'm tryin...

Re: Newbie here!
Hello, I'm somewhat fairly new here myself, and am also in the process of getting braces. I have a second appointment on the 19th of March. I think thats when I will get the molds, ex-rays, and cleaning done. Afterward if there are no cavities to fill and nothing else major, I hope to get my spacers...

Re: Getting Braces At The Age of 54!
I will be getting braces at the age of 50, but so what? I'm glad that I was able to take care of my teeth for so long, before I started having problems. I have teeth that are shifting and my lowers are shifting out against my uppers which is also making them shift forward too. I've already had my co...

Re: Introduction...Getting Braces at 50
Thanks everyone for the replies! I live in Maryland, and grew up in DC, so I knew about the dental school. It's Howard University School of Dentistry. I have a co-worker who got her braces there, and is in the final months of her treatment. Her teeth look awesome! I decided to do my research and sea...

Introduction...Getting Braces at 50
Hi everyone! I have started the process of getting braces. I have already had my consultation, and will be going back next month for x-rays, mold impressions, spacers (I think) etc. I have decided to start my treatment at a dental school, which is much cheaper, but may take longer. I joined this boa...
