Re: Hate outcome at 3mo post op

Wow, great results Lyra! You must be thrilled!!! I think I'm finally settling in to the changes and I for sure I am glad to fix what was going on after my first surgery. And I am super glad to be an anal record keeper so I can respond to threads like this and say "look how the face puff evolve...

If anybody is interested in checking out my blog that I've kept the last few years on all of this, visit http://www.confessionsofametalmouth.com Thanks :) I found your blog a few weeks before my own surgery and spent a lot of time asking myself what I would do if what happened to you happened to me...

Re: Hate outcome at 3mo post op

To you guys looking for changes through healing, check out my website. I put together a good before/during/after summary on it recently. And you get two for the price of one on my website-- you'll see changes after my first surgery and a full revision. lol

Re: Hate outcome at 3mo post op

I actually realized this week I was still hanging on to cheek puff. In my 6 month records with my surgeon I thought it was all gone, but after records from my ortho the other day (now 9.5 months post), I realized I still had quite a bit of puff in my face in the 6 mo pics! 6 month pics here: http://...

Re: BCBS and unrealistic criteria

Following this with interest; I have Anthem BC PPO in California and their medical policy for orthognathic surgery has pretty much the same language, except for the lovely word "OR" instead of "AND," so it looks like measurements will hopefully be sufficient. I did e-mail them r...

Re: Can non-union be detected on Cone Beam CT Scan within 16 days of surgery?

You would definitely still be non-union at 16 days. Bones don't even begin to initially set until 4-6 weeks post op. Even 9 months post op now I don't have full bony contact yet in all places. But yes, once you are at a place to look for non-union, you do that with cbct or ct scan.

Re: Hate outcome at 3mo post op

I would say by 6 months you should have a good idea in most cases.... but some cases take longer. Rule of thumb is allow a year for everything to fully settle. I had swelling around my nose for 9 months post op my first surgery, and the same until 6 months post op after revision. And there is probab...

Re: Maxillary Impaction with Only Minor Gummy Smile

If your gummy smile is only slight, I'd leave it be. In the long term it's better for you. Makes you more youthful and will prevent saggy lip later in life. Less is more there IMO. I was in the advanced area of that image you posted and had about 4mm impaction done, and I honestly wish I had left a ...

Re: Hawley vs Essix Your preference

So... got the hawley on the top. Def better! I still need to get it adjusting because I think the wire on my upper left is still interfearing with the bite just a touch, but otherwise we're in good shape and I am not clenching and getting the clenching headaches. BUT... I thought I could still use t...

I'm so sorry. I know what you're going through. Unfortunately I've been there and done that. I've got lots of useful information and words of support for revision patients on my website if you want to check it out. My contact info is on there, so don't hesitate to shoot me a message any time if you ...

Re: BCBS and unrealistic criteria

I know it varies from state to state, but I had zero issues with BCBS federal employee program. I was measuring 9mm with discrepancies in every direction possible though. Like, my surgeon didn't even bother doing a pre auth for me until 2 weeks before surgery because they knew it was going to go str...
