Re: 33 year old finally embarking on the long journey of bra

Try not to be too hard on yourself. I have popped 4 brackets in the first 6 weeks of braces and managed to swallow a piece of arch wire (broke off) that was 1 inch long. I though for sure my ortho would want to get rid of me, but he was so understanding. Now we laugh about the swallowed arch wire. R...

In my non expert opinion, I would agree with you. I am my lateral incisors are the same too, and I will be discussing this with my ortho next appt too. Curious to hear others' opinions.

Ouch! Power chains hurt!

It's soup for the next few days. Had power chains put on yesterday and they really hurt, but I know they are doing their job.

Re: Getting metal brackets to stick to porcelain teeth

I have two crowns, and one would not keep a bracket on (molar) . In the end, it was banded and I haven't had a problem.

I never knew TADs could be placed in the pallet like that. Looks painful but worth it to get the bite closed. Ignore the previous comment. Sheesh!

Re: "A Very Difficult Case!"

I think is great that you have done so well, and now you are taking care of your teeth and hopefully your mother's. My parents never had the money for orthodontics, but we did have regular check ups. Now that I am older, I can afford ortho, and did it for myself (after the kids were paid for). Keep ...

Re: Headaches more noticeable a week after getting braces

I have had an increase in headaches, but not for sure if from braces. I fell on ice approx. 3 weeks after braced and think it and being braced is responsible. I'd like to hear others experience with this too.

Thanks for posting.

Re: Preparing to get Braces! - almost 30.

I love this thread!!!!!! I thought I would loose weight when the braces went on, but oh no. I discovered Ben and Jerry's ice cream too. I am in love with that stuff and have gained weight. My fav is American Dream Cone, Half Baked and Chocolate Fudge Brownie! Can't wait to see pictures of your brace...

Re: How Invasive are you in your kids treatment.

Oldfart, I am a nag, especially at first. Then slacked away because of the conflict. Now that I have my braces on, she has picked up the pace with care. However, I must say she has had better luck with breaking appliances. She broke her very first archwire and had the quad fall out once (in the past...

Re: Confess your dental hygiene sins

Before braces:

Brushing once a day

Never flossing

Luckily, I have never had any dental problems. Now, like you, I have to brush after every meal and before bed. I can say that my dental habits have changed for good. I will always take care of my teeth. I don't want to loose them.

Re: Are you SERIOUS??!!!

Try not to be too hard on yourself. I have had my braces for two months or so. In this time, I have had four brackets come of and actually swallowed a 1 inch piece of archwire that broke off while eating. I felt so horrible and stupid. My ortho and staff reassured me that they have had worse. Now I ...

Re: TMJ with a month to go

I don't have any advice, but I am in a similar situation. The difference is my treatment just started two months ago, and now my jaw hurts to open (at times) and it aches (only on the right side). I go back on Monday and will be asking. Hope your problems resolve.
