Re: colored bands with In-Ovation C?
I have In-Ovation C tops, and In-Ovation R bottoms. I had to have ligatures placed on a couple of my bottoms because they were afraid that the position/pull would make the wire possibly pop open the bracket doors. They placed silver ligatures on them. I have since had them off, now I have rubber ban...

Re: Braces, chewing and bloating
Same! Especially with the bite blocks...I definitely cannot eat salads, and find that I hardly break most things down before they go to my stomach.

Re: The things we don't realise we do without braces
With my bite blocks in, it is impossible to "chew" anything. I was literally in tears one day when I ordered a salad in public, without thinking...I was so hungry and frustrated on that particular day, I started to cry, lol. It's been a trial and error process ever since.

Re: pOWer chain
What is the difference between rubber "powerchain" and the springy/slinky "powerchain" things? I now have both in my mouth, and also elastics. I have never known discomfort like this in my life, lol.

Re: Headaches more noticeable a week after getting braces
I believe the occasional headache is normal, especially after adjustments, as Snowglobe32 mentioned. I find that maybe with the self-ligating type some days are worse than others, too, with headaches. It should definitely not be an all the time thing, though. Robin, did you hit your head at all on t...

Re: Forgot how bad my teeth used to be!
Very impressive! I so look forward to having such a wonderful smile one day! When you changed from amalgam to composite fillings (I have several myself), was there much sensitivity afterwards? Is there any reason why they would oppose changing them out (size of filling, compromising structure for co...

Wow, that's awesome! I really need to do side to side comparisons with my photos...I'm so frustrated that I don't see a change in the mirror, lol.

Re: How many brackets have fallen off during your treatment?
So...I have an underbite (dental, not skeletal), and I just woke up because, even with bite blocks in place, I guess my teeth have been shifting and now the bottom teeth touch the top brackets, and just popped one loose. Problem is...I figured out how to open the bracket, but because of the location...

Re: Hygiene Check!!
I floss each night before bed, and during the day if I've had something particularly sticky. I agree about the progress, too - last night I could floss between a couple of teeth that I couldn't even fit the floss under the bracket/wire - much less between the teeth. I feel like a nerd to be so excit...

Re: Office reactions? Job interviews?
I'm a 26 year-old nurse, and have the ceramic uppers and metal lowers on for a few weeks now. A coworker just noticed them on the other day, "I never knew you had braces, wow!" A lot of people think I only have the lowers - they don't notice the ceramics. Really, no one mentions it, unless...

Re: Where does my lip go?!
Ha, had to chime in with the lip getting caught post-smile. I have the lateral canines - vampire teeth. If my mouth is dry, my lips definitely get stuck on the brackets on those teeth. Then I feel like I look like those little dogs with my teeth protruding. :/

Re: Sudden tender/painful central incisors
Likewise! Pressure on my incisor, no matter how little, makes it feel so uncomfortable! And now, I have different brackets/wire rubbing my mouth raw, where I had no issue before, and the ones I had issues with are fine now. I never knew you could have so many different, unpleasant sensations in your...

Re: My teeth - needing restraightened up. :(
People have different perceptions and priorities. My family still doesn't understand why I would spend $5,000 on braces to have a nice smile, as opposed to using the money for something "more useful". To me, my self-esteem and happiness is a priority. I say, if you feel your teeth need str...
