Re: Intense pressure around nose.

I've been feeling like that since I had some strong elasticated put in. It makes my teeth feel crushed. Hopefully it's nothing unusual.

Re: Intense pressure around nose.

You're welcome :)
I'm lucky because I'm surrounded by people. Just remember that it is the recovery which is making you overly emotional. I've had a few bad days myself. I call them pity party days :)

Let us know what happens :)

Re: Intense pressure around nose.

I am also 18 days post op (or is it 19?) and I'm on the NHS too. If I ever have an issue I always phone them and ask for advice. Try to stay calm tonight and then call tomorrow. They may just need to put some firmer elastics on. From what I can gather from others who have had the surgery, the bone t...

Re: Intense pressure around nose.

I've been using a neti pot for my sinus pressure post-op. it flushes out loads of blood clots and mucous and I feel so much better every time I use it. I would tell everyone having jaw surgery to use one - but please check with your doctor first. And if you do use one, make sure you only use purifie...

Is this normal? Post double jaw surgery.

On the 4th of September I had bimax and genio for an underbite. My swelling was little, I had no bruising and I seemed to be healing far quicker than is normal. Until last night I had pretty much stopped taking pain killers. Then last night my pain started increasing - I put it down to chatting too ...

Re: Any adults in their 40's on here?

Planning to whip up several batches of mush and freeze it ahead of time. Good idea - that's what I did, I made three pots of soup and froze them into portions. You might want to get some disposable plastic cups - they are the only thing I could drink out of after my surgery because they were light ...

Re: tongue space

@ridens Normally my tongue is resting on the floor of my mouth, the tip of my tongue will touch against my lower front teeth and a little against my upper front too. So essentially when my tongue is at rest it is hugged by my bottom teeth and also touches the back of my upper front four teeth a litt...

Re: tongue space

I've gone from having a huge underbite and loads or tongue space to having a normal bite - each jaw was moved 5/6mm which is a huge move. The first few days my tongue felt crazy huge - I was worried I didn't have enough room - it was difficult to breathe! but then as the swelling has gone down each ...

Re: PRE & POST-OP SUPPLY LIST---add your list or ideas

I don't think anyone has put this one on... (Sorry if I'm wrong)... But it is something I have found to be the most useful during my recovery so far A Neti Pot for nasal irrigation. If you had a drip going through your nose or it is blocked then it will be useful. Many people having orthognathic sur...

Re: What does a changed bite feel like?

I didn't have a splint and was only fitted with very light elastics for the first week. I could move my jaw but not much. My tongue felt huge and the inside of my mouth was swollen so it was very awkward. Then on day 6 I was fitted with very tight elastics because I had been retracting my lower jaw ...

Re: Any adults in their 40's on here?

I was fully capable of looking after myself as soon as I got back from hospital. I was out the day after surgery. I had double jaw surgery and genio. I must admit that a few times I nearly didn't take my medication because I couldn't be bothered to move and fetch them, but I was absolutely fine look...

9 days post op and I love my results! Photo *link*

I am 9 days post double jaw surgery, reduction genio, turbinate removal and septoplasty and my results are incredible! I HAD a HUGE and hideous underbite (of 1cm!) couldn't bite through anything correctly and now I have a perfect bite (not in use yet though obviously!). I'm so happy. I look so much ...
