I was also quoted 16-18 months. I've been braced since 12/19/12 and haven't yet seen a lot of movement, so of course now I'm obsessing that it might be longer. Oh well. Your teeth will decide the length more than anything else.

I would put a call in to your ortho and just express your concerns that your teeth are going back the way they were. I have to get a molar implant. I should look into surgery as well as I have an asymmetrical jaw, left side is longer and it's where the TMJ is, but if they can alleviate the TMJ issues I may not bother to get that fixed.
