Re: Help with questions to ask ortho

Haha Dee17 I'm the same! I just keep a running list in my iPhone and open it up when I get there.

Re: 15-18months

I was also quoted 16-18 months. I've been braced since 12/19/12 and haven't yet seen a lot of movement, so of course now I'm obsessing that it might be longer. Oh well. Your teeth will decide the length more than anything else.

Re: Hi there!

Welcome! I got mine on in late December so I'm not super far ahead. I also have a fourteen year old that is a couple months ahead of me. I actually had my first adjustment last Wednesday and got wire ties....pretty much on almost my entire bottom arch. Crazy!!! I get the feeling this is a heck of a ...

Re: FML

This seems like a very odd, rather combative thing to post. I certainly would not condone taking them off yourself. You could seriously damage the enamel of your teeth and set yourself up for a lifetime of dental misery. If your parents paid for you to get your teeth fixed, consider yourself very lu...

Re: My elastics are placed the wrong way

I would put a call in to your ortho and just express your concerns that your teeth are going back the way they were. It never hurts to ask and it is certainly reasonable to say hey I see this as two steps forward and one step back....maybe we can rethink it? I frankly wouldn't wait until the next ap...

Re: Finishing dental work after braces

I have to get a molar implant. I should look into surgery as well as I have an asymmetrical jaw, left side is longer and it's where the TMJ is, but if they can alleviate the TMJ issues I may not bother to get that fixed.

Re: Newly Braced at 41

Well, they've been on now for three weeks as of yesterday. I'm finally starting to forget about them once in a while. Usually right after I've cleaned them and I'm not going to eat for a while. I've seen some movement, both on the top and the bottom. It's very small and it's really hard to tell. My ...

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?

Got braced 12/19/2012 at the age of 41. Metal uppers and lowers. So far it's been an odd ride!

Re: NHS braces at 26

Ahh you made me laugh! I'm with you! I got braced 12/19 and my sentence is also 16-18 months. I haven't had the misfortune of getting a cheek cut so badly that blood dribbled out though. Hopefully your mouth will get tough quickly. And I hear ya on the talking. When I'm not spraying my husband I'm l...

Re: Newly Braced at 41

OH! I forgot to mention. Got a WaterPik yesterday. LIFESAVER!! My nighttime routine of brushing, using the interdental around the braces then flossing by using the little needle like plastic thing to weave the floss up there and then finally using mouthwash was taking FOREVER. Combined with the face...

Re: Newly Braced at 41

Ha helricha! I've lost 4 lbs so far! Granted some of that is likely water, and I was planning to get back to my diet and workout routine anyway....(that I fell off of when we moved from the east coast to CA). The typical foods I would go to are out. I won't be going after any salads anytime soon. Lu...

Re: Newly Braced at 41

Wow thanks for the welcome! My teeth are settling into a bit more of a routine now. Each day I wake up and it seems a different tooth has decided to take the role of most sore for the day. I assume that means things are shifting. I can't really see it hugely yet, but I can feel a difference on the b...

Newly Braced at 41

Hi all. I just wanted to take a minute and join the community. I am a 41 year old mom of three and I had recently begun experiencing some gum recession. Mainly in three of my lower front teeth. My dentist referred me to an orthodontist who is also treating my 14 year old. His upper arch was braced a...
