Re: Post op and struggling hard.

Wow, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I had a botched SARPE surgery last year, and it was very depressing. I've switched to the best of the best surgeon now and he is SO much better. It'll be expensive and I may be paying it off for years, but I finally realized...this is my face and mouth w...

Re: Dr Posnick

He's doing my double jaw surgery in January! I switched to him after another DC area surgeon botched my SARPE. :( Dr. Posnick could've done the whole thing in one surgery. I wish I had used him in the first place. I feel like I'm in good hands now and can trust his expertise. And the orthodontist he...

Re: Advice from athletes

Oh, and I did SARPE by the way. I've got double jaw surgery in 6 months or so, and I'm just assuming I won't really leave the house for about a month!

Re: Advice from athletes

I would say one month after is very unlikely, I'm sorry. I teach step aerobics. I started back just taking the classes maybe 5 weeks after. My jaw felt like it was bouncing around in my head - and that's with me doing the most low impact options. And really the problem is that it's so hard to eat, a...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi! Just checking in! My gap is SO close to closed, finally, 7+ months after SARPE. I told my husband we are getting cake and having a party when it finally closes! I'm getting my bottom braces on on 7/15 (got my tops on, then needed gum grafting before I could get the bottom ones on). Ortho is thin...

Re: SARPE Surgery

I got a bill from the hospital for 15,000. The dr's office is appealing insurance's denial. I should check up on the status of that actually!

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi all! I also turned my key 4x/day...although I was with a surgeon and ortho who I now think are totally negligent, so maybe I'm not a good example. Had my 3rd and final gum grafting today. Feeling okay and glad to be done with it. I've had my upper braces on for awhile and will get my lower braces...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi MissMelissa, call your surgeon's office - I remember they had to pull out/snip some of my stitches that weren't dissolving enough. I'm 5 months post SARPE and still feel tightness in my gums, still have numbness in my gums, and still have a spot on my top lip that is numb/tingly. I did have some ...

Re: Orthognathic Surgery - comparison shopping

I would probably eliminate any doctor who was willing to negotiate, to be honest! I was told who was the best of the best in my area, but didn't even do a consultation with him because he doesn't take insurance. So, I went with a supposedly good doctor who was in network and he totally botched my SA...

Re: Nervous, embarrassed, confused

I thought the same as you in my 20s and decided to ignore my bite issues and not do the surgery. Well things only got worse and not in my 30s my dentist finally explained to me that the incorrect bite was ruining my teeth and gums and 10 years from now there was a good chance I'd start losing teeth....

Re: Were you physically sick after your jaw op?

I was very worried about being nauseous as well! I was so sick to my stomach after getting my wisdom teeth out, but that was the tylenol with codeine, which I will NEVER take again. I did tell them my concerns at the hospital before my SARPE and they gave me a patch that worked great and sent me hom...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi all! Sounds like everyones treatment is coming along well! John, how did it go getting the RPE in? That thing is no fun! Kat - I don't know why the original surgeon and ortho didn't refer me to a perio. Just more reason that in hindsight, I think they were crappy doctors! If I need any more expan...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Kat - that is really funny! Ugh...my first surgeon made such a mess of my surgery with my teeth ending up lopsided, that I'm actually jealous of the "what I actually look like" shot! Goofy and Melissa - my best guess is that your tooth that feels loose has a lot of space and freedom right ...
