Re: What to ask ortho during consultation

Have you ever treated someone with with the same conditions..(overbites, overjets, open bites, crowding, combinations, etc)? What were the results? What are the treatment options? Why do you prefer one over another?(Tads over surgery for example) Treatment time. Do you provide in house financing? Does...

Re: I recently got 8 TADs/Miniscrews placed..

You're not allowed to eat anything you have to chew? How long is this going to last? I had jaw surgery and wasn't allowed to chew for the three weeks after being banded shut for 3 weeks. That was incredibly annoying and I had a hard time eating enough calories. I can't imagine not being allowed to ...

Re: I recently got 8 TADs/Miniscrews placed..

Glad to hear the pain got less after a week. They look so uncomfortable and won't you chew through the blue ties/elastics? Good luck!!! Well I'm not allowed to eat anything that I have to chew. Also the power chains are changed weekly. Even then its still hard..i have to stop myself from playing an...

Re: I recently got 8 TADs/Miniscrews placed..

Oh, now I see you definitely have an open bite! I hope very much that they will be able to close it with the TAD's. Does the ortho think he can completely close your bite? How long will it take? Did they initially suggest surgery? I think the TAD's are a great alternative then and I have heard prom...

Re: I recently got 8 TADs/Miniscrews placed..

Hi, I am sorry that you have been in such bad pain..... Hopefully it is getting better soon. I think your teeth already look quite good. I don't see the open bite on your picture, so I think it is not too severe? I wish you very good luck with your treatment! Greetings from Anna PS I also have an o...

I recently got 8 TADs/Miniscrews placed..

I had 8 TADs (temporary anchorage devices) put in two weeks ago. It is my Ortho's plan to use these mini screws to pull up my molars in order to close an open bite cause by years of thumb sucking. It was extremely painful after the numbness went away. Not too much much pain during..just an extreme a...

Re: TADs and short molars...?

Well my ortho mentioned that with rubber bands it could cause the jaw to move forward..and that the results with TADs would be more precise and predictable

Re: The waiting room

Well most of the patients at my ortho's office seem to be teenagers they look 15-19. I've seen a couple of kids. I live in a college town so the teens may just be young college kids. I'm 25 but I could pass for 17 so when they are there I dont feel awkward but when small kids are there I do feel rid...

Trans-palatal Arch trouble

I had my TPA put on my upper palate early in January and the only problems I have had was the raw tongue and the imprint of the device on it as well. Well the last few weeks I feel like one side is really digging into my palate. The other side seems fine and the wire feels like it is laying on top o...

Re: Trans-Palatal Arch?

I had one recently put on...it surprisingly did not effect my speech. I was worried about a lisp for weeks leading up to it. I dont know if that means I'm not talking properly to where it should effect my speech or what..The biggest problem was it made my tongue raw for the first few weeks. Even now...

TADs and short molars...?

Ok I supposed be getting TADs or miniscrews put in my upper palate in a few weeks and I have a concern. Right now there seems to be barely enough room on my molars for my brackets. (Like my fingernail cant feel the small space between my gums and the top of the bracket).if my molars are supposed to ...

Re: Colour Suggestions :)

I would suggest bright colors like a bright teal or bright blue..or maybe pastal. I made the mistake of getting a dark purple and from afar it looks almost black. So i'm counting down the days to my next adjustment when I can get new ligs.

Help dealing with coil springs and spacers..

So I need spacers back on in order to make room for the molar bands on my TPA. I guess due to the shape of my molars only two rubber spacers one on each side were able to fit in between the teeth. Last month we had to take a mold and for about a week I had the spacers and thought they were just anno...
