Re: impacted wisdom tooth and braces

I asked the same thing...no one else seemed to have an answer I had the problem of money saved for Braces. But not braces and oral surgery, it was one or the other. My lower wisdoms are impacted. Years ago my dentist had my uppers removed but not the lowers. Now at 42, the complications aren't worth...

Re: Impacted Wisdom Teeth ?

I got my Braces on the first of Oct.

Ortho said my impacted wisdom teeth would not interfere with treatment.
No need for surgery unless they cause me problems in the future. (I'm 42yrs)

Re: mouth sores :(

Kanka made by Blistix.
Dry the affected area, apply and let dry (holding your lip out a minute) You'll see a coating.
It will numb, is an antiseptic and will stay in place

Re: smile4jen braces at 42

It's been 10 days and I'm happy to report. My Canker sore from my lower hook is gone, it had showed up day 2. The Barbed Wire feeling is gone. Still feel them, but don't have a need for wax. Now I feel like a horse with a new bit. Anythings better than barbed wire. I have all Metal went with silver ...

Can't wait for the barbed wire feeling to go away.

Wax (Mack's), oral rinses and Kanka as needed.

Re: smile4jen braces at 42

I was braced yesterday. When the brackets were put on and I was told I could go rinse. I felt like I had straggly old teeth, like a old cartoon witch. After the wire was put on it was a little less rough, still rough. I waxed only my hooks back and front to prevent the snags I felt. But left the oth...

Re: smile4jen braces at 42

OK, talked to my Treatment Coordinator. She said that the extra tooth wouldn't need evaluated til the end of treatment. And because I don't have any problems from it now, likely nothing will need done.

So, this Thursday the braces go on

I wasn't sure I had TMJ (no clicking noises) but I have sinus, tire jaw muscles and ringing every once in awhile. The will evaluate need to have consultation with oral surgeon regarding extra tooth, has me wondering. I'd hoped to get a clear "They need out" or "No need" So I guess this means, if eve...

Re: getting Braces at 42

Dee17, I'm sorry I think you miss understood my post.

I'm happy with the Ortho I picked. I'm not nervous about what orthodontics involves.
I'm not hesitant about doing extractions if needed. Just don't have the funds to do everything at once

Re: getting Braces at 42

Yesterday my teeth hurt (crowded). I told my hubby, if I wasn't already scheduled for braces next week, I'd be getting an appointment. The only thing that can slow me down now is if my treatment plan comes and says I need teeth removed. I'll call the first of next week if I don't get anything in the...

Impacted Wisdom Teeth ?

My top wisdom teeth are gone. But my bottom wisdoms are bone impacted.
(guess near the nerve dentist didn't think they needed removed)

My question is... Is anyone in braces that have impacted wisdoms ?
If you do... Have they effected your treatment ?

Thanks Everyone

I'd like to give a Big Thank You to everyone, who is or has contributed advice and thier experiences. Because of all of you, by looking through years of post on different subjects, I knew what to expect. I was prepared with my chapstick and knew what to expect when I got my diagnostic records a few ...

Re: getting Braces at 42

I went into the Ortho with the naive thought of 6 to 9 months.
The estimate is 24 months...I'm ready to do this. I figure the longer I wait, the longer it will take

Re: Scratching Brackets

Thanks, I'd never heard anyone say it before.

I've been doing a lot of reading...I know anyone can put anything on the net.

I knew I'd get the right answer here.
