My surgery was similar to yours, except mine was to correct an overbite. I had upper and lower jaw advancement, a genioplasty, and a bone graft in my cheeks to "correct a void," whatever that means. I've never known anyone else to need the bone graft. My surgery was only 4.5 hours, though...

Re: Before and after pics

My orthodontist said the risk is 10-15%. I work with a person who had jaw surgery three years ago and she is numb and has that "pins and needles" feeling. It hasn't gone away after three years!! I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place (or numb place?) When is your surgery supposed...

I had the surgery 1 year 2mths ago and given the option again would not have gone through with it. It was more painful/traumatic than I had imagined my op was 8 hours [upper/lower/genio] and the recovery was MUCH longer than i expeceted. For all the pre op preperation and post op recovery that goes i...

I should also note that all the addtional changes to my appearance were due to moving the upper jaw [maxila] foward moving it foward made the base of my nose wider and made my cheeks look sunken in.

Lower Jaw advancement AND UPPER JAW ADVANCEMENT!!! They did the same thing for me,and I am really angry,my top jaw was already prominent and now it's even moreso! My lower jaw was very weak and i thought that was all that needed advancing but they did both. Both my jaws now meet and my bite is good...
