Re: Spacers towards end of treatment?
Thanks for the reply sirwired. The only teeth which have nothing on them are the very last molars (so four in total, 2 uppers, 2 lowers), there is no plan to brace these. 36 hours ago my lower gum which the spacer was resting on felt really uncomfortable, and looking in the mirror I could see the gu...

Spacers towards end of treatment?
I am over 8 months into my 6 month smiles braces (plan is roughly 10 months of being braced). The uppers look nearly finished and on the lowers I have a very small gap right at the front which needs to be closed. 6 weeks ago my ortho decided to order some 'bands' to put on my teeth - 1 on the upper ...

Re: Ladies: Do you wear lipstick?
I have missed wearing lipstick for the past 6 months. Did try wearing once after having becoming braced but all it did was smear all over my brackets and leave an awful mess
I have ceramics so not a good look!

Re: 6 month braces - (overcrowding, non-extraction)
I too have 6 month braces. My ortho estimated 10 months for lowers, 5 for uppers. I've had alot of movement on the lowers (where I also had an extraction) but not much movement in my uppers. I've been braced top and bottom for about 8 weeks. At my 1st adjustment the ortho kept me on a 0.12 wire and ...

Re: Anyone else started clenching their teeth since braces?
Yep I do this too, although I think I did it a little before braces. Some mornings I have woken up and it's like I need to prise my teeth apart!

Re: IPR--need to know...
If you read my 1st adjustment post, I talk about it there. My ortho did it with a drill bit attachment, he said it can be done by hand but it is quicker to do it with the drill. He showed me the attachment and it looked like a miniature hacksaw :yikes: I will be honest, it's not painful but it is a ...

Re: Braces in mid-life intro
Thanks Redfern!
Glad to hear you are doing well.
I am one month into treatment now and had my 1st adjustment with ipr on Monday. My ortho says I will notice a real difference in my teeth by month four, can't wait for that!

Re: why does it always happen......
You are so right there. After having the dreaded mouth ulcers for a couple of days after being braced, I was ok for the rest of the month until the day before my 1st adjustment when they decided to go crazy again, so turning up for the 1st adjustment was bad enough with tender teeth but the ulcers j...

Re: OMG! 1st adjustment and IPR
Braceface2010, I couldn't have put it better myself! It is like your head is buzzing!
Having had the IPR done on Monday, since yesterday the gaps have already closed, although my teeth don't look like they have straightened. So I guess he will do more ipr at my next adjustment

Re: First Consultation
I only went to the one ortho as I knew they had a good reputation and I was happy with what he suggested. My consultation was free, although I did have to pay for a full head x-ray thingy (can't remember the technical term!) which was £12. I have the 6 month smiles system so I'm not sure if that is ...

OMG! 1st adjustment and IPR
For some reason after being mouth ulcer free for over 2 weeks, my cheeks decided to go mad over the weekend and I have a whole new crop of the sore monsters in my mouth and then I had my 1st adjustment today. So between sore cheeks, tender teeth and one very wobbly lower incisor I was just about sur...
