Why did I even start this :(
Just had a removable retainer like thing put in, to move my lateral incisor forward as its about 6mm back towards the roof of my mouth. It covers the roof of my mouth and feels absolutely massive. My ortho reckons I will get used to it and my speech will return to normal after a few days... he clear...

Sensitive tooth
I had a filling in one of my lower molars a few years ago, and I had the tooth next to it extracted a few months ago for ortho purposes. My wisdom tooth on the same side has been really sore for the past few days, I'm not sure if it's because my teeth can now 'spread out' a bit more so they're slowl...

Re: Brushing in Public Bathroom
I'm always brushing my teeth in the toilets at work, at first people gave me funny looks but when they realised I have braces people don't really notice anymore. Although if it's something that requires 'closer inspection' such as flossing or using the interdental brushes I try to use the disabled t...

Re: I'm new here! Brace advice
Hello :D I'm paying nearly £4000 for my braces too, and I know that if I'm not happy towards the end of my treatment I will be making my ortho aware that I don't want my braces off! It's a lot of money to pay to be unsatisfied with the result. Plus 6 months after your braces are off I can imagine yo...

Re: It will be worth it...
raaaaaaaa... I can no longer feel my nance button!! Although it is still difficult to pronounce the letter 'k'. My hygienst is amazed at how clean my teeth are considering the amount of things I have in my mouth, and how many 'nooks and crannies' there are. Teeth haven't really moved much, well my p...

Re: It will be worth it...
So.. today was the day. My nance button has been fitted.. http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q565/ladybird365/14June2_zps76efd699.jpg My braces haven't bothered me for the past 6 months, people who know me (even my old ortho) have said I have a good attitude/humour towards it all. But now I feel li...

Re: It will be worth it...
I know, still a long way to go though! You don't really realise how much your teeth move until you compare pictures, I suppose it's because your mouth adjusts to changes so quickly. I knew my old orthodontist was leaving as I was told at my last adjustment and was given information about the new ort...

It will be worth it...
Hello :) Thought I would start my own 'braces story' post, rather than just lurking every so often. Long story short, was supposed to have braces when I was younger but I didn't (for various reasons). I now have wonky teeth with my upper lateral incisor sat in my palete. I've had braces for 6 months...

Re: Lig colours (colors)
I've had my braces for 6 months and I only ever have the 'tooth' colour to blend in with the ceramic brackets. I'm scared if I have colours ligs they may look strange due to the ceramic-ness. Are there any good colours for ceramics? I only have my top braces on at the moment, when I get my bottoms (...

Re: Nance button
I'll have to have a look at your pictures! I like looking at other people's before/after pics the difference sometimes is crazy!! I think that is what he plans to do with the nance button, hopefully it may speed up the movement too if my molars are properly 'anchored' rather than just used a power c...

Re: 6 months!!!
You don't really realise the movement you've had until you compare photos! I was quite lucky, my ortho office had taken someone else on to replace my old ortho so I didn't have to worry about finding a new one! This new guy seems to know what he's talking about so hopefully there won't be able probl...

Re: Nance button
Oh dear!!! I'm sure it's not as bad as it sounds, it's just another step towards straight teeth :) I haven't had that much trouble eating since I got my braces, I only have the top ones though. I feel like this is going to be a new experience! I've had 2 extractions due to decay, but I would have ne...

6 months!!!
So I've reached the 6 month mark and it's absolutely flown by! I've just got a new orthodontist as my old one left, who wants me to have a nance button so I will have that fitted in 2 weeks time. Still have a long way to go.. but slow progress is better than none. Getting these braces is actually th...

Re: Nance Buttons
Wow that's some bit of kit you've got in your mouth!! I've found pictures of it on good old google and the nance button doesn't look too daunting, I'm mostly worried about my speech!
