Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Hi Ilay, It's the labor, labor is so expensive here, which is why so many goods are made overseas. But services we can't go anywhere else for, not when it's regular visits. You should see the markup on medication, it's many thousands %. I guess there is no regulation of these things. I believe peopl...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Hi Ilay, Sorry I just saw your response. Thank you. I agree with what you say, it's what everyone says, but no orthodontist will take me even when I say I will sign any medical release waiver so their not legally responsible if something goes wrong while I am in treatment with them. They don't want ...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Hi archwired 28. Thank you for your reply. So you haven't then had the spaces closed yet? I agree that you should get implants, I hear it changes peoples faces so much when their molars are not there. I am shocked to think that after all these years in braces, that I would need orthognathic surgery,...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

So I spoke with a couple dentists, one of which only does invisalighn, another which does conventional braces and self taught himself to do braces, and I saw an orthodontist. My own orthodontist does not know why I lost the tooth show. He said he could move my teeth down some but that it would give ...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Hi Braced, If the braces came off today, I would have a huge space where the 1st molar is, so that is very close to the front, it's like the front side. Now I am told I do have loss of bone, before i thought it wasn't too bad, but it was my gums that weren't great but better than expected considerin...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Hi Braced. So definitely you're saying NO on simply getting the implant where I have the space? God it would take nearly 3 years if I am lucky to open up the space on the other side too, that would be 15.5 years from today, and that's assuming I start right now! How much bone loss can I take? All th...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Yes my braces were removed twice for an MRI, but only were off a couple weeks each time till I could get back in, the rest of the dozen years I wore them, I don't remember what it's like to not have braces :/ As far as an open bite, I don't think I had one? At least no one told me, if I did, it woul...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

So the only way to get tooth show is by getting the 2 implants? There is no other way? One ortho said to me online it was caused by of my your maxillary incisors being intruded and the other said it was caused by upper teeth being retracted to fill the excess space from missing teeth. So I don't kno...

PICS - In braces for 12 years straight, now toothless smile

Pic 1 - The way I look now, this is as far as I can smile and hurts like heck to do so. I may even have less tooth show than that and this pic was taken just weeks ago. My lower part of my face is narrower, I do not understand why but if you see my whole face you can tell how the change is very unde...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Right now my canines are moved to where the incisors would be if they had grown in, one orthodontist in another state told me that that is where I should instead have had implants. So now my space is like this: 2 front teeth, then my short tiny out of balance canines, then the tiny tooth that moved ...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Thanks Whiteswan. I am anxious to post pics. I did actually see a periodontist, only because I bugged my general dentist office, I am surprised all these years they didn't send me on their own. Anyway, he said that I do have some more than average bone loss for someone my age (30's) but that it's mu...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Hi Braced, Do you mean remove my braces and start over with another orthodontist? I fear they may still not take me because if I keep my past records from them, it could affect getting the best possible treatment. But if I give it to them, they may once again say too much of a challenge. I am still ...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

I have done that but it goes nowhere :( The reason why others won't see me is because I am a huge liability. I have even said I would sign whatever legal form gets them out of anything litigious, just please help me, but still no, I was told they don't want such a challenging case and I have asked s...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Thanks again. In my case every orthodontist said I needed the surgery (though would not take my case as a transfer case) but I had no insurance at the time and didn't have 20K lying around lol. My current orthodontist was the only one who offered no surgery herbst instead. I was so happy to have fou...

Re: In braces for 12 years straight, and now toothless smile

Thank you for your reply bracedsurgerystudent. So in your opinion, if I am understanding correctly, losing the pontic in the front then closing that space is what resulted in the loss of tooth support? It didn't affect my upper lip volume at all, so not sure if that means anything. So would this mea...
