Re: Soft foods post-surgery

Scrambled eggs has been a bit of a staple for me after I moved away from purely liquid foods (week 2). Lunches tend to be soups, yoghurts, baked beans and tinned spaghetti, (mostly because they are convenient to heat up at work. Rhubarb stew and pureed apple with custard is nice for something warm a...

Re: April 2012 buddies!

Hi everyone, glad to read that you both seem to be well on the way to recovery! I've just hit the 4 week mark now and am so happy all the swelling has seemed to have gone and my face looks normal! Can't quite believe how quickly the time has gone really - going back to work has helped - though I am ...

Re: April 2012 buddies!

Hi AA27! Good news about your surgery! My list would include: Your Mum (or someone willing to do pretty much everything for you so your only focus is on recovery - ie. Not the dishes piling up on the kitchen sink). Plenty of ice (a few flexible icepacks on hand and a blender so you can mash it up to...

Re: April 2012 buddies!

Hi Clare, When I've needed the oxy, I was taking a 10mg dose... But I only did that at night - knocked me straight out so I managed to sleep... I hope that lump of yours will settle soon and stop causing you discomfort! Had my post op review yesterday, and the orthos a couple of days ago... Everyone...

Re: Desperately need help/advice :)

Oh - and I wouldn't let a worry of upsetting your current specialists stop you getting a second or even a third opinion... It is your body and you who has to live with the decisions you make. I have gone through three orthodontists, and two surgeons before finding the combination that I felt I could...

Re: Desperately need help/advice :)

Hi there, If it helps, I'll share my story with you. Though I would suggest talking all this through with your loved ones and your specialists before making any decisions. Jaw surgery is a massive undertaking and you should be 100% sure it is right for you before going ahead with it. I also went thr...

Re: New Braces Post Surgery?

Hi, I'm now 7 days post op and had Damon braces on prior to my lower jaw surgery. About 3 days before the surgery I had little surgical hooks attached to my braces wire and they wrapped wires around all my brackets to protect them during surgery. During the surgery they apparently used the hooks to ...

Re: April 2012 buddies!

Hi Claire, don't worry too much about the lump - It sounds like it will be a pretty straightforward fix. I'm pretty sure by now there's not much these nurses, surgeons etc haven't seen so they'll have it under control in no time... My Surgeon stocked me up pretty well on drugs - I have childrens nur...

Re: April 2012 buddies!

Hi All, Thought I'd post and find out what other people's recoveries have been like... I am now 7 days post op! Had a single lower jaw surgery on April 16 along with bone graft and implants all at once. Came up pretty bruised and swollen but thankfully most of the swelling seems to have gone and eve...
